Why are the Dems for open borders?

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard several Pubs saying that the Dems were for open borders, but they were for Shrubs program of worker permits.edited for spelling. It's late!

But they are very concerned about Mexican-American voters. Republicans are xenophobic when it comes to immigration, and they tend to place all the blame on the migrants themselves rather than the employers who hire them. Generally, Democrats want to normalize Mexican immigration, make it safer, and to develop a policy that acknowledges the role immigrants play in our society.
In my opinion, the move to prevent undocumented workers from acquiring driver's licenses is stupid. If the concern is terrorism, wouldn't it be better to have visitors report to the motor vehicles department so they can keep better track of them? The 9/11 hijackers received drivers licenses by giving a kickback to a corrupt motor vehicles worker. The Republican plan wouldn't change that situation.
