Bush to declare tomorrow national holliday?
Has anyone heard about this? I believe it was CNN, but it seems like I heard yesterday--or the day before-- someone saying that Bush was going to declare tomorrow a national holliday. It's going to be called "Patriot Day". If this is true, talk about politicizing 9/11!!!!!

2. Bush has corrupted the word 'Patriot'
into something dark and ugly. Along with words like, Freedom, Democracy and Liberty.

4. Would that be a "paid" federal HOLIDAY....
or just a holiday, like, I don't know, like Flag Day?

Is flag day still a holiday? Wasn't it originally Armed Services Day?

5. I think most people will see it for what it is.....
trying to pander to his base, because everyone else seems to be finally waking up to his stupidity and his illegal war.

6. only the CHIMP could equate
MASS MURDER with PATRIOTISM

what is the message here?

we celebrate the patriotism of an administration that utterly failed to protect the citizens?

we're patriots because we're not dead? (yet)

sickening... but then EVERYTHING they do is sickening

Presidential Proclamation of Patriot Day 2002
To: National Desk
Contact: White House Press Office, 202-456-2580

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is the text
of the Presidential Proclamation of Patriot Day 2002:

PATRIOT DAY, 2002
- - - - - - -
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION

On this first observance of Patriot Day, we remember and honor
those who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
We will not forget the events of that terrible morning nor will we
forget how Americans responded in New York City, at the Pentagon,
and in the skies over Pennsylvania -- with heroism and
selflessness; with compassion and courage; and with prayer and
hope. We will always remember our collective obligation to ensure
that justice is done, that freedom prevails, and that the
principles upon which our Nation was founded endure.

bah blah blah

...of "Patriot Day"

12. Doesn't sound like a holiday
though it does sound lame.

Mr. Bush proclaimed September 11 as Patriot Day and asked all Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. and to display the flag at half-staff from their homes.
