Join me in saying that the Media has Failed
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 06:50 AM by ck4829
There is no doubt that the Media has failed the American people. I have a list of grievances against the Media, be it CNN, CBS, ABC, or Fox News.

The list of grievances

1. Never putting Bush where he rightly belongs when it comes to scandals and controversies

2. Would rather report on the Peterson case rather than one of these scandals that surround Bush or other people close to Bush

3. Basically defended 'poor little' Jeff Gannon

4. The Media is called 'liberal' by the RW, this bias might be unfair toward them, but it is a lie. In reality, the majority of groups in the Media fall to the Right.

5. Gave air time to the Swift Liars

What are your complaints?

Let's make this list as big as possible and tell the 'mainstream' Media that they are officially useless!

1. Don't tell what is really happening in Iraq
just rah rah patriotism, our boys can do no wrong garbage.

Went out of their way to assure the American people that Abu Ghraib was the work of a few Spec. 4s and maybe a sergeant, but that no one else was involved.

Fawning over Bushco and making sure no strong leftist is allowed to talk on many of their programs.

Distorting the "Dean scream" to make sure that Howard would drop out of the Democratic race.

2. Corp Media was
complicit in the illegal invasion of Iraq and helped perpetuate the WMD lies.

3. The media is nothing more than a big propaganda machine!
They don't report news, they editorialize everything to match the opinion they or the corporation wants to express.

5. They do not check facts, they do not keep opinions on the
opinion page or qualify opinions as such (on television and radio), their gatekeepers think Michael Jackson is more important to the American people than the real scandals that actually effect people.

Yes, they've failed. They've become part of the entertainment industry instead of the watchdogs they're supposed to be.

6. The trend of the weatherman to make snide unsupported comments about
news reports before he starts delivering the weather.

The inability of the press to do any sort of investigative journalism.

The fact that being pretty seems to be the main criteria for female on air anchors.

The obvious inability of news media to conduct any sort of interview.

Gaggle fests posing as meaningful discussions on issues.

7. The constant OMISSIONS. Case in point: The History Channel.
Last night (2.16.05) there was a program on Big Engines wherein the world's largest cargo jet, Russian, was profiled. It was shown hauling the Russian space shuttle.

However, no mention was made of the fact that this massive RUSSIAN cargo plane was used to return the AMERICAN spy plane that was forced down by China early on in the bu$h regime. (You remember: the incident in which bu$h said he would NOT apologize to China, but used the word "sorry" three times in the official statement.)

Small? Perhaps. But consider that the "news" nets (including NPR) continue to cover the CBS bu$h National Guard Memo Affair without ever mentioning that the content of the memo was not discredited--only the form of it was deemed fake.

A couple of thousand omissions here and there, pretty soon you're talking about some Black Holes.

8. more scrutiny of President's budget
Why is there not more coverage of the huge Federal spending/mispending & all future budget requests
I heard a review of Bush request for additional spending for the Iraq war last night on Young Turks on sirius, much of it is for outdated technology left over from the Cold War, here we have scandal after scandal of government waste, i.e. the FBI computer wheeze and now there's very little objective examination coverage of this proposal, including the request for bunker busting nuclear weapons.
