When the Exxon Valdez ran aground, I stopped buying gas at Exxon stations. Not for a second did I think this would "hurt" Exxon. I did it because it was the only way I could express my displeasure. It was simple and it made me feel I had taken action.

I don't think for a minute that my spending habits will bankrupt any body but to not feel bankrupt myself I support companies that support me. Is that such a strange idea?

The point is to make them aware that we are noticing. We are buying at stores who support our values. These corporations spend millions trying to sell us on the idea that we should shop there because they represent our values. They do notice when folks start challenging this carefully crafted image.

7. I buy my books from B&N, not Amazon. Better prices, better service.

My first order from Amazon, I waited a month. Second order, two months until it came in. From the web site, it looked like they were in stock. Ridiculous. I switched to B&N. Every book ordered there has arrived within a week, or 10 days if it's on back order.

B&N being blue is frosting on the cake. Very sweet, delicious frosting.

I don't care whether they are blue or red. Their grocery prices are the lowest in my area. My only other choices are Kroger, Publix or Ingles. Kroger and Publix are too high-prices and Ingles doesn't have a variety of anything.

promotion by these companies.

Remember that Democrats and Republicans are eating from the same trough these days. So to say they give to Democrats is showing how much Corporations have bought both parties off now.

I will add I go into Costco pretty regularly and take a stroll down the book aisle. Do it some time if you get a chance. It's like a walk down conservative white straight male lane. Or a walk down Anglo Christian avenue. And there's always Hannity lane.

29. I had a couple ideas: BlueChalking (or Blue Stickering) and BlueBot

BlueChalking would be similar to WarChalking, which marks the locations of open wi-fi locations.

People would walk around with pieces of blue and red chalk, and mark the sidewalks in front of stores. For a "blue" company, you would mark it with a percentage in blue chalk on the sidewalk. For a red company, a percentage in red. (Not vandalism, because it eventually washes off in the rain).

Also, there are tiny little adhesive color-coding stickers you can buy at any office supply store. We could place blue or red stickers in discreet locations on storefront windows. (Not vandalism, because they're easily removed).

My other idea is the BlueBot.

It would be an AOL and/or MSN Screen Name that you could Text Message from your cellphone. You send it the name of a company, it it tells you the percentage Dem vs Rep donations they make.

The coffe is better and comes in more flavors, the donuts are better, the employees are friendlier and all have teeth. They even stir your coffee so they don't hand you a cup with all the sugar on the bottom from the drive-thru window.

35. Absolutely. Corporations may try to "blue" themselves as much as they

want. They are still eliminating smaller businesses, jobs and eliminating the small towns and businesses, which in a way keep things honest.

Corporations lack accountability and increased the disparity between the very wealthy and the very poor. Because they eat up jobs, the power becomes more isolated for a small few at the very top.

Now with the law that just passed where in order to sue a corporation you have to go through the Federal judicial branch, they are going to be even less accountable.
