Republicans Using the Race Card in SS Argument
New talking point:
The low life expectancy of black men short-changes them in the current Social Security system because many of them will die before they reach retirement age.
So all the money they contribute will be gone - they will have contributed for nothing.

I do not have a link for this - but I've heard it in two different interviews on NPR this morning.

1. That's an old talking point and it's full of shit.
The numbers show that there is a disproportionately higher percentage of African Americans among all who receive SS payments than there is in the population at large, which would not be the case, of course, if what the Republicans are saying is true.

2. Hey BurtWorm--do you have a handy link (or source, even) for that?
I mean, I've heard the talking point disputed, of course, in actuarial terms, but I forget how. Yours is a quick way to say it, if I can say "that's from..."

4. One of Charlie Rangel's former staff is now at an organization that
specializes in policy as it affects African Americans. I can't remember the name of organization. I'll do a search and get back to you. I heard her speak to this issue a few weeks on C-SPAN's Washington Journal.

3. And in any case, the problem is not SS:
it's the differential mortality rates. Dubya pushes policies that will increase differences in mortality rates, and then blames SS.

LOL - There's no reason to spend good tax dollars teaching negoes to read, since they have no chance of getting a good job in America anyway...

It's the same "argument".
