Last night the fake-news not make-news guy made a major departure and covered the Gannon/Guckert story based on what is happening in the blogosphere. I was too tired to start a thread about it, so I'm glad that it has entered into the discussion. JS mentioned several blogs including Daily Kos, BlogSpot, and Atrios.

Since many (including me) were disappointed that JS was not covering the story, I have to say that I felt like last night was a big moment. He has a huge audience and most of them like us get their news on alternatative blogs and news sites. So that is a slap in the face to CNN and to the networks. I hope they read the writing on the wall that their days as outlets for B*sh propaganda are numbered.

Right now JS is a very hot property because he has started his own production company. The Comedy Channel has the right of first refusal on anything that he produces but after that he can shop it around anywhere he wants, including the networks. The LA Times thinks the networks will be hungry because their own comedy shows just aren't cutting the mustard. So JS has a unique role to play and it will be interesting to see where it takes it.

He was really breaking new ground with his coverage of the Gannon/Guckert story and we should let him know how much we appreciate it. Maybe between him and KO there is some hope for the news in this country.
