How long can we continue to believe we live in a democracy?
The entire saga of the elevation to the Presidency of a nonentity like George W.Bush,his total disregard of our Constitution,his orchestration of the War Drums,his destruction of our economy, his corruption of our Press and our electoral process has taken a heavy toll.

I believe he will go down in history books as the single most destructive force in all of human history.And, I also believe he will be proud of that accomplishment.

12. Democracy is compatible with Theocracy. Democracy is not equal to freedom.
Democracy is about majority rule. If the majority are religious, what is it about democracy that stops them from taking a vote on the official religion? Nothing.

Don't confuse democracy with freedom. Some people in Iraq are going to learn this the hard way.

We're lucky here that we have the bill of rights protecting the minority from the majority.

It's anything but. That requires an educated (not brainwashed by FAUX news, for example) populace willing to vote and who have functional voting (and tabulation) machines to use. America currently has neither.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

That was a true statement not so long ago.

Now, change it to look like this

We the Corporations of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Empire, establish fascism, insure domestic Turmoil, provide for the common occupation of countries we don't like, promote the extinction of the middle class, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to our Govenment and our God George W. Bush, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Seems more fitting in todays bizzarro world.

5. The USA has been an Oligarchy since it's inception.
Now it is a Fascist Nation. Soon it will be a Fascist Police State. The Democratic Party has been complicit in the formation of the USA becoming a Fascist State. If you agree that the Dems have been complicit please voice your views Why is that so?

7. Nationalism and extreme fundmentalist religion is destroying
our country. We are under a corporate fascism, posing as a democracy. At least we are still "posing" so there is still hope.

It's hard to talk reason to folks who believe the end of the world is a good thing...

thinking there are quite a few dem lites in the congress of these u.s. , why on earth have there always been a few that have always crossed the line and voted for this madness from the right everytime , if you are a dem and there is a smell in the air you just don't set and put a check mark on everything that is voted on coming from jr. and his bunch of merry fuckup's

Thus my user name.

This isn't a democracy -- some call it a "managed democracy".

Very few of the Congress members are looking out for the interest of the people -- the GOPigs are the worst offenders.

The Constitution has been trashed and/or ignored -- and it will get worse. Nixon was on the same path -- the balance of power put a stop to his march toward a complete dictatorship. The bushie gang has no such constraints and the Dems seem to be unable to muster the courage to stand up to the GOPigs assault on what remains of the illusion of democracy.

It will get a whole lost worse before it gets better -- and I am beginning to believe that the aim of the bush crime family is the total destruction of the U.S. They are certainly on their way to killing the Golden Goose -- the middle class.
