BREAKING NEWS: Gannon reportedly knew about "Shock and Awe" four hours before it happened
by John in DC - 2/18/2005 09:57:00 AM

A news producer for a major network just told me that Gannon told the producer the "shock and awe" campaign launching the Iraq war was about to happen four hours before President Bush announced it to the nation.

According to the producer, Gannon specifically told them that in four hours the president was going to be making a speech to the nation announcing the "shock and awe" campaign had begun. The producer told me they were surprised that Gannon, working with such a small news outfit, could have access to such information, but "what did you know, he was right," the producer said today. The producer went on to say that Gannon often had correct scoops on major stories, including information about Mary Mapes and the Dan Rather BUSH/AWOL scandal that this news outlet got from Gannon before any had the information publicly.

This more than a few questions and points:

3. It certainly appears
that the attention being paid to Mr. Gannon is paying off. Just 36 hours ago, a friend on DU was saying that Gannon was an insignificant "waste of time." Sure looks like these 36 hours have put that little theory to rest.

4. No doubt, Gannon was doing someone in the White House. Or more than one?
I'm just real curious how far this incredible scandal can go in today's political climate.

12. Yup, seems one of his 'reports' was read into the Senate record by ...
Sen. Thomas WY/R ?
Is it okay to post more than 4 paragraphs if from a government doc/site?

I ask unanimous consent that the Talon News article by Jeff Gannon dated September 23, 2003 be printed in the RECORD.

There being no objection, the material was ordered to be printed in the RECORD, as follows:

Daschle, Lautenberg Vow to Fight FAA Privatization They Supported in 1994

(By Jeff Gannon)
WASHINGTON (TALON NEWS).--New Jersey Democrat Sen. Frank Lautenberg is promising to hold up the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill over the subcontracting of some air traffic control jobs. He cited safety concerns as the basis for his opposition to the outsourcing of air traffic control functions.

President Bush has threatened to veto a bill that does not include language to allow the privatization that his administration says will result in increased savings with no reduction in safety. Democrats are challenging competitive sourcing of thousands of federal jobs through insertion of amendments into departmental appropriations bills that would prohibit the practice.

Some are characterizing Lautenberg's opposition to the privatization as political, since he championed a similar program in 1994 .

Geoffrey Segal, the Director of Government Reform Policy for the Reason Foundation, told Talon News, ``The change in position clearly is pandering to special interests, in this case NATCA (National Air Traffic Controllers Association), who have aggressively stepped up their lobbying efforts to fight competition in the FAA.''

Segal pointed out that, while serving as chairman of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, Lautenberg supported the part of Vice President Al Gore's program for ``reinventing government'' that included the changes now being proposed by President Bush.

Segal continued his criticism of Lautenberg , saying, ``The flip-flop in position is pure partisan politics--it's reform when proposed by a Democrat, but it's trading safety and security for profits when it's a Republican proposal.''

Lautenberg was quoted in the Washington Post in 1994 , saying, ``The administration's proposal to privatize the air traffic control system is consistent with the desire to bring more efficiency and reform to government and should be reviewed seriously.''

On the Senate floor in 1993 , the New Jersey Democrat declared, ``I strongly endorse the FAA's contract tower program for level 1 (the smallest) control towers. ..... The use of contract towers is an example of how we can reduce the costs of Government services and achieve savings over the long run.''

Lautenberg justified his support of privatization by saying, ``FAA estimates that the use of a contact tower saves $200,000 annually because of the flexibility available in scheduling controller working hours around changes in air traffic activity levels.''

19. Now that's a find. How many more of the Repugs asked Gannon's
little RW Talking points to be put into the Senate Record? This would sure be another interesting side investigation if anyone wants to do it.

Getting a list of the House and Senate members who asked for Talon's news to be included in CR...might reveal something that would add to this story. What are their connections to Gannon/Talon.

It has been said by those in the know that Gannon has often known in advance what the Bush* Administration was going to do and has told people. He definitely has insider knowledge.

9. OK but Arivisu needs to start being cautious now
Before he gets burned by a RATHER/ROVE trap. On its surface the story sounds like a big deal but it's just big enough for the producer to not come forward or retract his statement thereby making the whole story about the mistaken quote just like the Rather document issue.

23. i agree with your assessment...rove could be attempting
to blow this story..out of the water..un named sources wont cut it at this point...

yes the msm can get away with that..but not internet reporters...this could easily be a set up..and no grass grows under roves feet...they have been too silent and of course * will conviently be going out of the country...so they will do anything to shut this down..they shut it down on papa for the "NEBRASKA" story...people must also be careful for their life!!

The Franklin Coverup Scandal

The Child sex ring that reached Bush/Reagan Whitehouse

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
*******

***no link for this but look up this guy! and his death!!!

Two more victims: investigator Gary Caradori and his 12-year old son.

Caradori had been retained by the Nebraska State Legislature to investigate the allegations of a paedophile ring run out of the Franklin Credit Union, which implicated not only some of the most powerful figures in the state, but high officials in Washington as well.

The two were flying home in Caradori's private plane, after a trip to Chicago for his boy to see the 1990 allstar game, and for Gary to do a little investigating.

He'd been gathering testimony and evidence of a child prostitution ring which implicated senior Republicans in the state and in DC, and operated with the knowledge of VP Bush (a number of the teens placed Bush at sex parties) and the protection of intelligence agencies (call boys being used to ensnare VIPS for the purposes of blackmail), all tied to a credit union which was laundering money for Iran/Contra, and had been founded by an abusive paedophile who'd sang the national anthem at the GOP national conventions in 1984 and 1988.

Caradori called the committee chief, Senator Loran Schmit, from Chicago to say he had the smoking gun. "We've got them! There's no way they can get out of it now!" Returning with evidence, his small plane broke up midair. A farmer witnessed a flash of light and heard an explosion. That made the early news, but subsequent reports said the plane exploded on impact. The wreckage was examined at a military base and ruled an accident. His briefcase was never recovered.

SCANDAL IN NEBRASKA

As the call boy ring affair dominated the cocktail gossip circuit in
Washington, another scandal, halfway across the country in the state
of Nebraska, peaked. Again this scandal knocked on the President's
door.

A black Republican who had been a leader in organizing minority
support for the President's 1988 campaign and who proudly displayed
a photo of himself and the President, arm in arm, in his Omaha home,
was at the center of a sex and money scandal that continues to rock
the Cornhusker state.

The scandal originated with the collapse of the minority-oriented
Franklin Community Credit Union in Omaha, directed by Lawrence
E. KING, Jr., a nationally influential black Republican who
sang the national anthem at both the 1984 and 1988 Republican conven-
tions. King became the subject of the Nebraska Senate's investigation
conducted by the specially created "Franklin Committee" to probe charges
of embezzlement. In November 1988, King's offices were raided by the
FBI and $40 million was discovered missing. Within weeks, the Nebraska
Senate, which initially opened the inquiry to find out where the money
had gone, instead found itself questioning young adults and teenagers
who said that they had been child prostitutes. Social workers and
state child-care administrators accused King of running a child prostitu-
tion ring. The charges grew, with the former police chief of Omaha, the
publisher of the state's largest daily newspaper, and several other political
associates of King, finding themselves accused of patronizing the child
prostitution ring.

14. A Great Read....kind of turns "out" the light on Fitz's Investigation
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 11:42 AM by KoKo01
turning up anything, though. Putting what Buzz says together with John Dean's latest article on Fitz Investigation...I'd have to say that the "outing of Plame" is going nowhere.

Unless...it can be connected with Gan/Gurk as a story. And, perhaps in the end someone with some decency left is helping "connect the dots" who has a tie to the Fitz Investigation.

21. Though I like
the editorial, it errs in what Fitzgerald is doing. The WH defense is that Plame's identity was "common knowledge." As we know, Wilson was easily able to put that little lie to rest in his book, just as Plame's attorney showed it to be a lie in a LTTE to the WP that I linked yesterday. Wilson says he believes that Fitzgerald will indict.

I am an old retired boxer. Sometimes my favorite sport is accused of being as crooked as politics. Yikes! People will say that fights are "fixed." You know, some have been. No doubt. But they almost invariably are the ones that end in the first two rounds. They never go into the late rounds, with lots of bruises and cuts and bloodshed. This case is in the late rounds. Fitzgerald isn't faking the investigation, and it ain't no "set-up." There will be indictments which involve WH officials. And, just as in Watergate, when these weasels go to trial, things will become far more interesting.

15. If he can get one producer though, maybe another one will step forward.
That "used to be" the way investigative journalism worked. We haven't seen any of that from the MSM is so long maybe all of us have forgotten how it works.

Even Woodward & Bernstein had "dead end leads," and were sidetracked in the long Watergate investigation.
