Jeff Gannon wrote about mandates in Nov. 2002 |Same day as Spaceman review
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 01:00 PM by qanda
This is from the Conservative Monitor, which I had never heard of before, but it's the first article I can find from him.

THE 2002 ELECTION MANDATE (November 12, 2002)
Jeff Gannon / -- The mainstream media is full of talking heads claiming the recent elections, although swept by the Republicans, is no mandate. I disagree. Every election is a mandate. Americans express their will by casting their votes and in many cases, withholding them.
This election was a clearly a referendum on George W. Bush. The President took the issues of homeland security, Iraq, social security, prescription drugs and the economy directly to the people when he asked them to elect Congressmen and Senators who would support his initiatives in these matters.

Voters responded by defying midterm election history, returning the Senate to a Republican majority and expanding the House majority held since 1994.

Three days after the American election, the UN Security Council voted 15-0 in favor of a resolution for disarming Iraq. The following Monday, Saddam Hussein called an emergency meeting of the Iraqi Parliament to decide how to respond. The United Nations and Saddam Hussein recognize this as a mandate.

Okay, so who owns the Conservative Monitor and why did they give this unknown writer a forum.

On Edit: This is the same day that Spaceman gave Jeff Gannon his last review. Is this a coincidence? Well, I doubt it.

"The most recent review is from 11/12/2002, from a man named Spaceman."

7. Absolutely,
I read their purpose and it stated, "At the Conservative Monitor we work hard to keep you up to date on the most recent trends in public discourse. To do this we bring you reviews of the latest books coupled with essays by the best opinion writers on the web. Being that this was the earliest piece I could find from "Jeff Gannon" I just thought it was a bit strange, that's all.

Notice that that guy, whoever he is has to keep reading from his notes in order to ask a question. My guess is that the guy was simply some kind of actor.

13. It all started when someone said, "We need a mandate"
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 01:17 PM by CindyDale
and went downhill from there, I guess.

Edit:

Then when Gannon arrived, they exclaimed, "No, not that kind of man date!"

And Gannon said, "Hey, I can do the other kind of mandate, too. Why not give me a chance?"

15. He also appears to be an author
http://www.iuniverse.com/bookstore/author.asp?author_id=111397&penname=W.+J.+Rayment

1.How Not To Build an Addition

W. J. Rayment now lives in Harbor Beach, Michigan. He is also author of The Real Man's Cookbook. He works on-line creating websites for indepthinfo.com, but spends his free time maintaining his humble home.

2. The Real Man's Cookbook, by W. J. Rayment.

Conservative ideas are beginning to seep into the mainstream of American culture via the conservative author. "The Real Man's Cookbook", by one of our editors, is a great example of this trend. It contains irreverent humor, a conservative view of the world and best of all recipes that are simple, fun and taste great. Each recipe is accompanied by a short essay that puts a new twist on the culinary arts. It provides not merely food for the gullet, but food for thought. A great read, even if you don't care to cook.

22. Bill Rayment and Alan Caruba
In Googling for Rayment, I found an online review by Alan Caruba which says, "A friend of mine, Bill Rayment, has written an hilarious book, How Not to Build an Addition ... A visit to his website, ConservativeBookStore.Com, will also provide access to many books that will prove of interest to conservatives or anyone seeking to understand the changing American political and social scene."

http://www.bookviews.com/archive/bookviews-april2003.htm

So I Googled a little on Caruba and found that he's another rabid anti-environmentalist like the folks at Frontiers of Freedom, which has connections with GOPUSA. See http://www.sourcewatch.org/wiki.phtml?title=Al_Caruba :

Alan Caruba is a public relations advisor and a vitriolic critic of environmentalism. His website boasts that his clients have included or currently include "chemical and pharmaceutical companies, think tanks, trade associations, service providers, publishers, authors, and others". <1> (http://www.caruba.com/credentials.htm)

A staunch conservative, he has also strongly supported the Bush administration's war with Iraq and advocates similar military action against other countries in the Middle East, including Syria.

The main page of Caruba's site recommends a profile on him that appeared a couple of years ago in Insight Magazine. This is the same Moon publication for which Bobby Eberle of GOPUSA sometimes writes.

Without a tighter connection I wouldn't put too much weight on this, but it does seem to place Rayment and his sites into the same general territory as GOPUSA.

I don't know if it means anything, but this seems to be Jeff Gannon's first foray into "journalism" that I can find.

26. Is it possible that Caruba is Spaceman?
He is about the right age, writes a lot about space, and is former military. Also, if you look at when Jeff Gannon posted his first article, it appears to replace Caruba's normal spot. This is just speculation, but may be where this all began.

18. I'm wondering how much of this website and this article is real.
I went to their links page. Mind you, at the bottom of the website it says it has been in existence 1997-2005.

There is all of ONE LINK.

That is lame, folks. A conservative website that only has ONE LINK to offer, in 8 years?

Plus, is it 1997 they started? Or the info found above - 2002-11-01

Now, look at the time the Gannon article was posted.
November 12, 2002 at 23:23:55

Is it normal or unusual that the time on the article is seconds before the day's end?

Am I whistling in the wind here? Or, is this just a lame website with a lame article by JG?

19. Hard to say really
The InDepthInfo.com site has articles by Judson Cox. I know I've heard that name recently but I can't quite remember where and what context. The guy also posts at FR and, from what little I looked at is a vet from Gulf War I. So, this could tie into the whole escort thing.
