25. Saved By Scandal...
SCANDAL: that word used on a Ffriday entering a 3-day
weekend saves the story from disappearing into the slow
weekend news cycle.

Go scandal! Go!

69. Absolutely
"Scandal" is the journalists equivalent of one of those sticky page flags.

Now the question is whether Rove can force the Corportate Media to bury this story. Of course, now that it is a scandal, it sells, and
Karl is going to see what they mean by hostile takeover.
I think these guys stop at nothing. The primary symptom of this level of coruption is the bodycount. Any high ranked unmarried military commit suicide recently?

And the hypocrisy on the "private matter" reaction is not only blatant, it is clumsy.
Another little angle-I imagine only the most whorish and depraved WH reporter would not be angry as hell that an obvious impostor was given preferential treatment while most of them have to grovel to the likes of Ari and Scott or be blackballed. Even mice have pride, folks.

36. The military's black ops has a $2.3 Trillion slush account
See Rummy's quote in CBS's "War on Waste"

www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/ 01/29/eveningnews/main325985.shtml

So if the military's 'blank check' (as Tim Weiner's book of same name called it), he can also be paid under the CIA's Operation Mockingbird, media manipulation-mighty Wurlitzer, project.

Domestic activity of psy-ops military and CIA domestic needs oversight, as if we haven't been down this road before.

Why does it always take a 'Blowback' episode to get the domestic hijinx of these guys under control ?

I'm always telling him he's full of shit and that the press is owned by the BFEE. We'll soon see if this is just too juicy to pass up, damn the consequences, or if the vise grip the BFEE has on the corporate whores continues to tighten.

52. We Better Make Sure It's More Than Sex...
If this story stays on "Gannon" or sex, dozens of other slimy "Gannons" get away and continue their dirty work of misinformation and distortion. The corporate media hacks will believe (and rightly), they control the news...and aren't accountable to anyone. Hate Radio will continue to pump out slander and lies...un-checked and with few outlets to respond. Stay on sex and all these elements will make lots of money from the sleeze and a lot of great, hard work will have gone to waste.

One thing I'll be looking forward to is when "Gannon" decides to sell his story. His M.O. spells "self-promoter" and if he prostituted himself at least two times we know of (gays, Repugnicans)...a $1,000,000 payday's gotten be in his dreams right now. The game is to figure which publication will cut the check (or the bags of $50s and $100s). Might be a fun thread for over the weekend.

In my humble opinion.

These guys are doing to the right exactly what the right would be doing to the left in the same situation. Do I like it? No. Is it the way that we are going to "win?" Unfortunately. Do I therefore find it a necessary evil? Yes.

Something about an unfolding scandal is both sickening and exhilirating. I hate being human.

I wish I had a dime for every time I've been in this exact same place--a place called "Hope" (as Bill would say). So they said it was a scandle. There are scandles and then there are SCANDLES. SCANDLES are of the Monica kind. "scandles" are of the: "a guy who empties wastebaskets in Scottie's office was having sex with this guy and got him in the front door and the doorman to the White House is implicated as being either dumb or gay" kind. In other words the word "scandle" doesn't mean they will ever EVER let it get above the White House cook level. This isn't going to rock the administration. It just means that some flunkie in Scotty's office will get fired. I've just seen too much of this to even hope. And I KNOW as a fact now that the media will protect this Bush bastard with their lives.

73. Olbermann tonight talked of the link with
Daschle and the bloggers and Gannon's part in the Thune campaign -- and there's CBS with the Rove link, and memogate, and Plame, and now, shock and awe -- usually I'd agree with you on this, but I think there are so many added elements here, including the CM having been shamed and the decent ones knowing they have been manipulated. Olbermann said -- are we just to become another arm of the government? I think some of them are just starting to see the light and now they have a personal reason to get involved -- like their jobs.
