What's the alert level color right now?
Have they changed it yet? If not, why not? Have they even up on even that pretense of protecting us? I thought raising the alert level entailed major changes on the local level across the country. Shouldn't these people have more warning if there's a damn good chance something might go wrong tomorroww which seems pretty possible with today's news. Or are the bushies not even going to bother since they wouldn't want their fun little surprise ruined?

1. As far as I know
it's still "yellow". There was some commentary on it on CNN and they said that there hasn't been a "specific threat" other than the airlines flying from Canada or Mexico(from last week I think). They said the administration is hesitant to raise the level unless there's a good reason because it costs lots of money everytime they do.

Also said that they didn't want to confuse the public by raising it just for anniversaries.........

4. CNN itself has been covering the new bin laden tape, and just a couple
days ago an al-qaida leader said that there will soon be a new attack so spectacular that it will make us forget about 9/11. So this definitely wouldn't just be raising it for anniversaries. Nice job covering for the administration CNN. Maybe the administration just realized that crying wolf over and over again doesn't help poll numbers anymore.

13. They also don't want to confuse the public by ...
telling the truth about terrorism and their nonresponse to it.

3. I'd prefer...
...a color-coded jumpsuit. I think that would be more appropriate for the fraud...

6. That was kinda my point.
Doesn't the fact that they haven't changed it show how it's really all BS PR management?

9. Hmmmm
Dam me and everyone I know. I shouldn't have said that. Look here is something I want all of you to keep in mind. That color code may someday become very important. Someday the rules will be extended and there will be some things you can and some things you can not do when the alert level reaches some height. For instance, in 2005 by Presidential fiat it may well be decreed that a curfew is in effect because condition purple is in force, or that no groups may band together on the strees because it happens to be violet. Wanna bet what color it would be changed to on days that protests were to be had. This color and national states of alert is just one more fucking tool in the box for those would wish to control every aspect of your life and mine. You must fear them and work towards their removal from places of power.

10. The alert code is the best early warning system ever devised
to help the terrorists.

I guarantee, if the alert level goes to Orange, there will be no attack.

The government cannot lower the alert level to blue because if they did, all hell would break loose. I am 100% confident there are sleeper terrorists whose orders are to strap on bombs and blow up three or four civilians in the local McDonalds within 24 hours of the government lowering the threat level to blue.

Next big attack will happen during the common average everyday Yellow Alert status.
