Poll question: What are republicans?
Sure, they may at first appear human, but then they make decisions which choose corporate profits over human lives and hand us the bill.

So, what exactly are republicans?

3. A group of people

The bad ones are scum sucking evil put on this earth to drive intelligent people who care about this country out of their minds.

However, there are plenty of misguided people, people who vote with their pocketbooks, or people who are single issue. They aren't quite so evil.

6. Yes, yes, they're all individuals, sure.
However, if they still choose to associate with criminals and traitors, does that make them too stupid to realize this or actually complicit in the crimes of the party?

2. From my perspective, not all repubs are idiots or assholes.
Some, like Christine Todd Whitman, appear to be a bit more level-headed and are wondering what happened to their party.

If your question was worded like:

What are RW, Christo-fascist nutters?

You might get some better answers.

4. But, to do that, I would have to agree with your assessment.
I don't. If they still stand in the same party with idiots and assholes, they are complicit in the actions of their party and still guilty as charged.

26. Wrong.
By my statement, anyone who still calls themselves republicans are equally guilty of the republican crimes, and I'm done with them all. (Except maybe the moles, if they're for real.) If I were to apply that pattern to myself and my party, I would say that, whether or not I'm decent or traitorous, saavy or oblivious, I still choose to associate with the Democratic party, which is true today.

10. Most sincere...
about this quest. I saw the theocrats taking hold with the idiot-boy Dan Quayle leading the charge against fictitious TV characters (remember Murphy Brown?). Voted Clinton in 92 and have been voting Dem for President EVER SINCE. I'm the socially liberal/fiscally responsible kind of Republican who works on getting other 'Rockefeller Republicans' to vote for Dems...being 'one of them' gives me an edge. I don't bother with the efungelical nuts...they are the reason my former party is now such a dangerous force.

8. Some Republicans are decent human beings...
who have been fooled into supporting a tax, borrow and spend government by false claims of conservatism.

The majority, however, are assholes who demonize anyone who doesn't agree with them, hate anyone who doesn't pray the same way they do, and are hypocrites.

The party has been utterly corrupted by neocons and talibornagains.

Moderates still clinging to the belief that they are part of the GOP of old will have to come to their senses, and find another party to call home.

Those who can't or won't... well, step this way to plunge into the tar-pits.

Are you talking about the repub neo-cons who hijacked christianity to fulfill their neo-con agenda?

What about the republicans who don't support shrub?

Are you painting EVERY one of them the same as the ones who have ruined this country?

Some of them, whether anyone here wants to admit it or not are actually decent people.

25. Yes.
There was a time, two major elections ago, when the argument could be made that the republican party had been shanghaid by radicals and that they were good people who had nothing to do with it. However, that was then. Only someone in a coma or with a substandard level of intelligence could not have been aware of the agenda of the current republican party and the real damage it has caused through its actions. Thus, I make the simple assertion that anyone who still chooses to be a republican is either a) a traitorous fucking piece of shit, or b) a complicit incompetent who, through their continued support of the party, is enabling a bunch of traitorous fucking pieces of shit. Either way, they are guilty of crimes we haven't even begun to discover, as well as the ones we have, and I'm done with them.

I think it's assinine to swipe such a wide brush over an entire group like that. It's also completely unfair.

I know some republicans who voted for Kerry. That doesn't make them complicite just because they happen to be in the same party as the ones you loathe.

34. They vary
Some are fiscal conservatives who really misguidedly believe that the most socially valuable products succeed in the market, while mediocre and poor quality goods fail.

Many fiscal conservatives agree with democrats that hard work should be rewarded. Except, we see being the CEO of a multimillion dollar corporation as a LACK of hard work because we believe that the wealthy (usually) belong to an elite insular class who are rewarded at birth and never have to work at all. Fiscal conservatives, on the other hand, see the poor as people who didn't work hard or who 'didn't want it bad enough.' We see the poor as people who drop out of school to work 80 hours a week to feed their relatives.

Social conservatives are just plain evil as far as I'm concerned. I agree that 'the dumbing down of America' has been tragic, but I certainly don't believe that 'liberals' are the cause of the decline. (what a farce!)

Jingoists and religious fanatics, all stupid and/or evil. Period.

38. Conservative Republicans have been co-opted by BU$HCO....
Limbaugh, and the Neocons et al.

It was a good party on which to build a rip off premise. The Neocons in particular found a welcome friend in this relentless power trip.

Cut taxes....sounds good...but rather than REAL cuts, shift dollars in the hands of scum bags that only care about their wealth.

Cut social programs....sounds good if it's pork....but once again...a strategy to put money in those with power.

The REPUBLICANS are stupid to let this happen.
We....the DEMOCRATS....would never have fallen for a plan to destroy our country.....

Even if we did, we wouldn't be able to come to a consensus on how to implement it. It's a sad truth of any group which embraces diversity rather than persecuting it.

The hard-core party power brokers and their followers or just single issue voters who have been decived on that key issue for a vote?

Many people did vote Republican last fall who are far from the idological nuts we hear and talk about.

Given the actions of the republican party over the last five-plus years (if not longer), how can anyone who is not evil or pathetically stupid still choose to be part of that party? No, anyone still calling themselves republican at this point is either a fucking traitorous piece of shit, or someone enabling them to be so.
