why doesn't the party officially kick him out? That way instead of appearing as "Zell Miller - D" he'll appear as "Zell Miller - R/I".

When people see a so called democratic ex-congressperson slamming us it does a hell of a lot more damage than someone in another party doing so.

If he was a republican do you think they would tolerate this? They'd give him free tickets for a vacation in Europe via a small aircraft.
