1. That's not breaking news
It's over 24 hours old. Saw it last night.

7. First I heard of it was this afternoon, a local talk show host
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 09:43 PM by doc03
interviewed the reporter that took the video today. He said he heard the DI screaming at the recruit repeatedly while doing another story and just happened to catch the DI grabbing the recruit by the shirt an giving him a forearm across the chest the day before his death.
First I heard of it, I can't stand to watch the news channels since the election.

2. Poor kid
Some kids go to college while others like Jason work at local fast food restaurants like Wendy's. Johnny Tharp says his son had good reason to enter the Marines, "He wanted to earn money for college and he didn't want to put the burden on us. That's the only reason. I didn't want him to go, but he had his mind made up."

3. I saw an interview today with his parents
it was heartbreaking.

They said he sent letter after letter saying he'd made a mistake and wanted to leave the service. Poor kid. Poor family.

5. not killing enough marines in Iraq?
Want to get to the bottom of this? they should put that DI in a room with the family and give the family an Abu Ghraib instruction manual.
