OH MY GOD HAVE THESE PEOPLE NO SHAME? Kurtz/ Gannon Forgiven
"People criticize me for being a Christian and having some of these questionable things in my past," he said. "I believe in a God of forgiveness."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A36733-2005Feb18.html

Kurtz conveniently plays it up as though Gannon is being taken on for being gay OR being a prostitute rather than he and the puppetmasters that put him there are hypocrites and manipulators of the worst kind.

This statement could not have been MORE PLANNED than if it had came out of this week's prayer breakfast meeting.

(it's at the end of the article)

Yes, that really is Poppy with some beautiful 'spa' attendant.

Here's the original link. The pic is about half way down on the right.

48. I believe you're right and I also believe what Poppy has on
everybody goes back to the young boys prostitution ring that went on in Washington during Poppy's term. As an example, apparently Bob Dole has an aide go to the bank EVERY week to withdraw $8,000 in cash, which he says he needs for living expenses. Give me a break; nobody needs that much cash every week for expenses - at least not the same amount etc. Bob is paying off somebody big time. As a side note apparently this prostitution ring was operating out of Kansas - as my Repug friends would say "that's just a coincidence"; yeah, right.

Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 01:58 AM by chookie
Help me wrap my brain around this: How can the Party of Personal Responsibility ALSO be the Party of The "Forgiven"? What are their criteria of assessment?

"Gannon" thinks of the first half of 2003 as his PAST? And he's now 47. And we used to laugh at George W for referring to his 40th year as his "youth"!

Believe it or not, "Gannon" is making a bold play here that might well work out for him. He will get the hypocrites on the right to embrace him as a repentant sinner (because he is one of them in political ideology), and he will get the idiots on the left to back off because he is a "gay" and "free" that we accommodate and that we mustn't be hypocritical about. Mind you, it's okay for "Gannon" to be the most insanely hypocritical wacko in the universe and feel proud, but anyone who does not embrace this man's right to his "sexuality" should feel guilty about him -- no matter how outrageous, disgusting, and illegal his behavior is.

And you know what? He's going to get away with it. He at least is smart enough to figure this out, IF, in fact, he is not being advised by someone who profoundly understands such things, and I think we can guess who that might be....(Rove or Karen Hughes)

One of the most bizarre things out of this bizarre story I have seen is the first denunciation of this skank -- they say it is IMPOSSIBLE for "Jeff Gannon" to be a conservative Republican, because of his moral behavior, which makes him a Democrat, I suppose (HUH?) All of "Jeff's" writings and actions on behalf of this president, and his passionate denunciation of opposition to Bush, and the energy he put into destroying Bush's rivals -- which ALL THE RIGHT WING loved him for -- he was routinely praised by Rush and Hannity, and even got published by the AEI on the basis of the content of his writing -- but this guy is saying in spite of all this documentation, that he is not?

That's what you get when you live in a Manichean black/white good/evil Bush/Bad Guys world -- when someone who you idealize or idolize is found out to do something bad or skanky, you can't wrap your brain around it, and you ignore it, or try to make the claim that your opposition is being hypocritical, because their relevastic moral compass does not point as low "south" as they wish it would to embrace their moral monsters.

NOPE! I am immune to the entreaties of hypocrites. This man lives a life off the charts of my moral compass, and I utterly denounce him.

Howie has been the worst, but the rest of the CM is desperately trying to make this about a legitimate news organization and a legitimate journalist with gay prostitution in his past. Poor misguided soul trying to turn his life around. They are avoiding the money connections on this fake web site completely. That has to be where the story is.

16. Savior or shill: Howie to the rescue or Howie on the bottom?
It may be that Howie is just trying to keep the guy alive.

As I've posted elsewhere, I think gagman pulled the 26 Jan 2005 $hrubber press conference stunt (and the eager communication with DU to become the #1 punkneoCON shmuck or whatever that contest is called) because he may not have been ready to be a participant in one of those 'suicides.'

I think gagman's background (when we learn what it is) may well be sufficiently experienced in the ways and means of scrubbing those who have become unwanted annoyances, that he may well have detected that it was time for him to become 'hyper public.'

And, heck, he's succeeding and maybe Howie is into the "he's not heavy, he's my brother" compassion thingie and is trying to help the dude not find himself hanging from a shower rod.

Think about it. The fact that gagman is still alive is already an amazing story, imho.

Or, maybe Howie has other reasons to shield the gagman. Let's ask Howie.

Peace.

Yesterday, last month, last year, 2003, 2002.

Youthful indiscretions do not explain his whoring. I hope the IRS goes after him for tax evasion. Most prostitutes don't pay federal or state taxes on their illegally obtained earnings.

23. "in the past"?
is Gannon no longer gay? Is he renouncing his inherent sexuality? Or just the prostitution? And when did his career in solicitation end? He seems, like Bush, to refer to youthful indiscretions. The real issue is the security issue. In a post 9-11 world, how did a man with illegal activities in his background, including tax evasion and prostitution, receive FBI clearance? A man with an alias received unusual access to the White House.
Who else?
Armstrong Williams. Maggie Gallagher. Jeff Gannon. The Swiftboat Liars Club.
Leslie Stahl is correct. There is definitely more here.
Who will be the first to talk?
You know there's at least one book in this tangle of spotlight seekers.
And the first to talk reaps the most cash.
I'm betting Gannon will talk. A lot.

kurtzh@washpost.com

Two points here--
First, we did not invade the man's "private" life. We invaded his professional life, a professional life he chose to make public when he offered up his services, including a fee schedule, on the internet.

Secondly,
calling out the words "Oh God" while having sex does not make you a Christian.

I have met a few escorts in my day, among them an ex ms universe, a trannie and a very good looking young man who we kinda proud to see attend the Oscars with an old broad. Their job was to satisfy the old, wealthier but boring or hypocritical enough people who could or would not get their personal needs met in real life. In none of these cases did thier work a reflect their own desires. That's why it's work.
I thought I read that Jeff was an unpaid volunteer contributor for Talon... if so, wouldn't that make his escapades in the WH personal and his whoring work?

It was linked to and discussed in this DU thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1608243

The article, available online from the Detroit Free Press and written by Miami Herald reporter Leonard Pitts Jr, can be seen here:
http://www.freep.com/voices/columnists/pitts18e_20050218.htm
Its title: "Do we need to define 'reporter'?"

Here is the end of the article:
....The thing is, a government that is not scrutinized by an energetic and adversarial press is a government that is not accountable for its actions. A government that is allowed to create its own reality is a government that can get away with anything.

So where is our outrage?

Frankly, the only thing more galling than the brazenness with which the White House abrogates the public's right to know is the sheep-like docility with which we accept it.

When the history of this era is written, people will wonder why we didn't challenge its excesses, why we didn't know the things we should have. If you're still around, remember the uproar you do not hear right this moment and tell them the truth.

Ignorance was easier.

However you define a "reporter," Mr. Pitts is clearly far more of one than Howie Kurtz with his position at the once-prestigious Washington Post.

I recommend reading the entire Pitts article and letting him know how you feel about his speaking out. His contact info is at the end of the article.

46. Okay..the AYE HAVE SINNED BEFORE you AND MAH LORD card
is being played...has nothing to do with the actions of this person, according to most Christians, even criminals repent and still have to face prison.

GuckGannon has to face what his actions had caused. And take responiblity for them. The "I have Sinned card" will not work here if done right. His actions violate law. The Actions of those that hired him violate law.

54. Dear Howard Kurtz.
Before you forgive someone, doesn't he have to stop the activity first? The escort sites are still live.

Second, this is his career we are researching, not his personal life.

56. "I've made mistakes in my past" -- **EXACTLY** what * said about his DUI.
When it was disclosed during the 2000 campaign -- it's the standard Republican dodge!

Bush campaign fends off truthfulness questions after DUI disclosure
November 3, 2000
<snip>
"...At the Grand Rapids rally, Bush made only an indirect reference to the controversy. 'I've made mistakes in my life, but I've learned from my mistakes'..."
<snip>

But I guess that Clinton, or any Democrat for that matter, isn't allowed to learn from his or her alleged mistakes.
