I would have liked to have a LOGICAL answer by a neo-con.....but...of course I know there isn't one. As some of the posts have stated, its all about the oil. It not about WMDs, its not about getting rid of a bad guy, its not about human rights, its not about establishing Democratic values.... its about getting the oil. If anyone thinks otherwise they are living in la la land.
We(the U.S.)knew that Saddam was not a threat. After ten years of severe sanctions the country was in shambles. The infrastructure needed massive attention. Saddam had secured major oil contracts with Russia. All that was needed was to have the weapon inspectors to agree that there were indeed no WMDs. This administration couldn't take that chance. Saddam would have never sold an ounce of oil our way...let alone millions of barrels. Maj. Ritter had confirmed that it looked as though Saddam was complying. Saddam knew it was either comply or watch your entire country collapse. So he did comply...
Anyway.... I answered your response because I laughed out loud when I read it....:-).
My question does show that the neo-cons can't answer my question though. I know there are a few lurkers here. Anyway
A week or so ago... the documentary "House of Saud" played on PBS. It was VERY interesting. It really showed the nightmare games that we have had to deal with to get that precious oil.
Thanks to all that posted ....However, I would still like to hear "their" answer to my question though.
