I would think it would be an experience that I would never forget.

1. Absolutely.
I remember my first publication almost 30 years ago: I was in high school and published a poem in a regional magazine. I remember my first major publication, too--happened when I was in grad school in '93.

2. Interesting that Gannon/Guckert can't remember.
I would think anyone would remember their first published piece, but he said he couldn't remember. I think I heard it on Olberman last night.

3. YES.
And I still have that article--framed and hanging on my office wall. Hell, I remember that date better than when I lost my virginity!

9. I Still Have The Check Stub...
Sold something I didn't think would see the light of ink, yet alone that I'd get a check for submitting it. The date March 16, 1978. Helps that it was my daughter's birthday...but I remember that day and that check as well.

I'm curious if there are any previous Gunkert writings out there; pre-Talon/GOOPUSA days. Supposedly he was discovered at a school in PA...did he write anything there?

From the MO on this guy, my bets his earlier writing efforts made it onto the Internet during finals times...plagarizing someone elses term papers...it'd be a great training ground for his current line of "work".

11. Of course! Saying you don't remember your first publication

is like saying you don't remember where you were when JFK was shot.

13. Sure do and still have the article.
It was in the student newspaper at my university in the summer of 1990.
The first time I was published professionally was in the summer of 1992 at my first job in Anderson, SC. I still have that article, too.
Gannon's a joke.

16. I don't remember the first time I got published in the student
paper. I remember the first speech to a group of 600 students, though.

And the first real publication in a major linguistics journal. Reviews don't count.

17. Yep
The first thing was an article I wrote for a University-related magazine when I was in college.

I also remember the first article I wrote that was published in the newspaper.

18. No - it was decades ago and was probably the

American Kennel Club's monthly magagine (under my married name)I did a monthly column for the Akita breed.

talking about the art of blather. At that time I interviewed one of the suits at the AKC in NYC. that man was a wonder, he could talk or write at length, sounding wonderful, but saying nothing. It was amazing.
