Have you seen the new version of "The Lion in Winter"?

There's a quote in it where Henry or Eleanor points at their imbecilic son John (so he is portrayed in this film) and says, "If that's a Prince, then there's hope for all the apes in Africa." It struck me as peculiarly apt. Good movie, by the way.

The original is one of my all time favorite movies. Can this hold a candle to Kate and Peter?

4. I think Patrick Stewart does a fantastic job as Henry.

Glenn Close doesn't even approach the genius of Hepburn. I've seen the original too, many times, which is what inspired me to see this one.

.....but it still isn't nearly as good as the original movie with Peter O'Toole and Kate Hepburn.

Sign of the changing times: there's a segment where King Henry talks about all the various sexual partners he's enjoyed over the years. In the 1968 movie, "little boys" is on the list; in the new TV movie, it's deleted.....
