Jeff Gannon / Jim Guckert Talking Points

Okay folks, in case we were losing track, here are the various talking points regarding this whole 'PropaGannon' scandal. I'll include the reasons why we're bringing this up in parentheses after each item.

- Guckert got into the WH on a daily basis for over two years, using an alias, which isn't supposed to be possible. (Partisan favoritism, plus obvious WH influence)

- He's lied about the reasons for that alias (hard to pronounce and spell Guckert?!!). (Lies)

- He was never a real reporter for a real news organization. (propaganda, plus professional fraud)

- His journalistic credentials consist of a 2-day weekend course provided by a partisan Republican organization (the same people who passed out those purple bandaids at the GOP convention in '04). (Fraud)

- At the same time he was getting into the WH daily, he's also been advertising himself as a gay prostitute ($200/hr) on numerous websites, many of which have been proven to belong to him and some of which are STILL live. (Breaking the law)

- He's lied about owning the gay escort websites and profiles, despite proof. (Lies)

- Actively engaging in illegal activities (prostitution) AND having an open $20k tax judgment ought to have precluded him from getting into the WH. (Security breach)

- It's not about the fact he's gay, it's the fact he also wrote numerous virulently anti-gay articles before he was outed. (Hypocrisy)

- He apparently knew classified information (Iraq war start, alleged CIA memo) before it was announced and repeatedly bragged about it. (Security breach)

Guckert's PUBLIC ATIVITIES IN PROSTITUTION WERE STILL ACTIVE ON THE INTERNET AS OF LAST WEEK!

Nobody investigated his personal life, it's about public illegal actitivies.

6. About the gay part.....

Actually, I have no idea if he's gay. He's a prostitute, so it might have all been business and nothing to do with his personal life. However, the gay part is an important subtext not just because of his own hypocrisy, but also because fomenting hatred of gays and fear of a "gay agenda" is the vehicle that this administration and the rightwing have ridden to power.

They're distancing themselves from their history as the party of racism because the numbers aren't going to hold up for them there. They can't even agree on illegal aliens because the personal xenophobia conflicts with the cheap labor ethic. Gays and abortion are what they've substituted for minorities. The fact that their family values positions mask a very Big Lie is something that's very hard to get across but we have to keep trying.

8. Gannon may well NOT be gay...

I just saw a short video clip yesterday about the gay pornography industry. It was noted that anywhere from 25-50% of the male stars in gay porn are not gay, but are straight.

They interviewed a number of these straight porn stars and the rationale for doing gay porn instead of straight porn is, of course, MONEY!! One fellow talked about how a straight gig would only net hm about $500, whereas a gay gig would make him $3,000 or more. He said he wouldn't even take his shoes off for $500.

Another fellow brought his girlfriend onto the set so she could help him stay "titillated", and they also said they took Viagra to help "maintain".

Anyway, it's all about the money, and Gannon may well have been taking advantage of the "Gay Cash Cow" as well. I doubt there is much of a market for straight men escorts for ladies only. Once again... it's FOLLOW THE MONEY!

also, Karl Rove went to his same "school" and I believe was some sort of teacher or administrator at some point in time.
