During the election we debated how the Log Cabin Republicans

could support a person or a party that actively campaigned against equal rights under the law for them. Is this Gannon thing really as big as it seems or has the number of people in the GLT community who wish to marry smaller than it seemed. I'm really puzzled by this. Just how many GLT have bought into the power structures through the Republicans? I hope this question doesn't offend anyone but the scope of this is hard to grasp in either camp. It just makes no sense to me that individuals would actively work to prevent equality for themselves. Forgive me if I sound naive but I would like to hear what people think.

2. Exactly. A lot of the Log Cabin guys are executive types

who are enjoying the benefit of two male incomes. Tax cuts are paramount for them. They've already done living trusts and joint tenancies for their property, so marriage isn't that big a deal for them.

It won't be, until one of them gets ill and his estranged family comes in and forbids the partner from having any visitation.

6. Blood relatives can and do overrule those all the time on visitation.

The medical decisions have to be made by the holder of the durable power of attorney unless the family goes to court to get it revoked. Families do that.

My own response has been to enforce strict visiting hours with the estranged family, then bring the partner in outside them. Had a family caught on and objected, I would have been fired.

It's the only time I ever enforced visiting hours on anybody who wasn't exhausted or a pain in the neck.

5. Not fighting for your rights or staying closeted out of fear I can

understand; but "I got mine" is despicable--especially since these policies of this administration are so detrimental to all of society.
