How many of us admire you, Elizabeth Edwards?
Elizabeth, you as a lady is so strong. I hope in the future I have your anti-bodies and the personal strength that you possess.

Not long after the race was conceded, you were on the cover of People magazine. I had been thinking about a change in my hairstyle. After looking that picure, I had my hair cut similar to yours, and colored (but not as light) where it would show my best features. It turns out that your hair cut presented a more updated, positive look for me (before you had many treatments and now wears wigs) as our facial features were similiar, other than your blue eyes and overall beauty trumps anyone's!

Elizabeth, hope your surgery goes well next month. I hear positive notes about your health otherwise. Your husband, John is the best, and he's able to balance a new Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity, in addition to looking after you, Emma Claire, and Jack...as well as Cate. You represent model family values. Thank you for sharing yourselves as you have been able to, during your times of trial. I guess this is your 5th or 6th trial. Hope you will post here or on One America Committee blog when you are able.

Blessings, Benny

10. Dear Elizabeth -
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 07:17 PM by elfin
A dear friend of mine had breast cancer - and didn't tell anyone. The only way I knew was that I (as a new docent chairman) called her to fill a particularly difficult tour at the Milwaukee Public Museum . She said " Well, I have to go in for a bone scan that morning, but my surgery isn't for a few days, so if you can't find anyone else, I can do it."

Big news for me - whe I queried her she fessed up and said it was a real "nuisance" and she had to have both breasts removed -- but she would be back in action soon.

That was 20 years ago - her attitude remainsns inspirational to me and I expect yours is much the same.

It IS a humoungous "nuisance" - but you WILL be back in full action before too long - with a new-found appreciation of all the pleasures and idiosyncrancies that a full life brings.

PS - I know Cate, Emma and Jack came to the museum as a diversion during the campaign - I trust they enjoyed it and wished I had been there to show them some "secrets" of that wonderful place. Next time they come, have them ask to see "the Muskrats that made Milwauiee famous."

11. We're praying for you in our house.
Praying for strength to handle the treatments, for pain relief, for your true grace under pressure to help you in this time of need, for the doctors to always choose the right path, and for you and your family.

I hope you like the chemo hats we sent. I'm sorry you need them.

30. Love her...saw her in person
Also watched her on C-Span

I was writing emails to John Edwards before he even decided to run in the primaries, urging him on.

They are a wonderful family whom I intensely desire to see rise to the top.
