Beginning with the 2000 election the working-class has been under constant and persistent assault. The assault intensified this last week.
The first denying the working-class access to the legal system. With the legislation that moved class action suits to the federal courts the Republicans have erected an insurmountable barrier to seeking any justice through the legal process.
During the same week the Labor Department entered into an agreement with one of the worst offenders of existing labor laws. The agreement reached last week provides that Walmart will be notified prior to any investigation of complaints of violation of labor laws. In other words, a heads-up will be provided in plenty of time so that Walmart can seek out the worker who made the compliant and fire them. Once again the working class was locked out of any process that might have provided relief.
One of the final acts that occurred this last week was the bankruptcy legislation which is moving closer to passage. The with this bill a working class family that has suffered an egregious economic setback due to large medical bills, loss of job or any other economic negative occurrence can no longer seek some financial relief through bankruptcy. From this point forward a working-class family would be well advised to forego any credit arrangement.
The working-class can no longer look to the government for protection from predatory market forces. The market place is now wide open for all the scoundrels, cheats, and thieves. There is no one that can be trust and the working-class needs to understand the position that they now occupy.
