Republicans are Against a Free Press
David Brock's book "The Republican Noise Machine" point out that one Republican I do not remember his name, claimed that he did not believe in a free press. He believed the media should be controllded by business interests. Brock also pointed out that even though a large amount of Republicans speak agains welfare they recieve welfare themselves at there think tanks. One major Republican even went to New York City College mainly because it was free.

1. They learned that honest media coverage of Vietnam is what ended it.
That eventually led to funding cutbacks which really ended it.

7. Lived then
Yep. Watching all those coffins coming home, little kids being napalmed during your family dinner, turned the PUBLIC against the war. Now, we have "embedded" reporters only showing what the government wants you to see.

8. Plus LBJ and that '62 JFK tax cut went out with the war in '67's surtax
when the DoD realized you gotta pay the bills. This prez thinks like Wolfowitz that the war was going to be a cakewalk and the oil was going to pay the bill. Unfortunately Wolfy was lying to congress since they KNEW that the oil was only going to be online after decades of infrastructure improvements (and congress went along for the ride).

Either Bush and Co. wakes up fast or we face huge inflation and/or tax increases...gee, who ya think the Repubs are going to raise taxes on...us turnips of course ! You cannot raise taxes on those with the most money, why, that would be against the ideology !

4. Neither do the students
Polls show far too many students do not understand freedom of the press. They'll be far more willing to accept our Pravda-like news media. (I'd suggest referring to it in that matter, but my bet is that a reference to Pravda would go over the heads of those who are unaware of the first ammendment.)

"I guess I'm not supposed to be talking about brands, but since Michael Dell is my good friend, I'm the owner of a Dell computer." - George W Bush

Maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger should of directed his girly men comments towards the state of Texas instead of California legislators. Michael Dell's relationship with the president, continues to provide vast windfalls of money and power to the pragmatic billionaire. The two, known for spending hours alone together, when George was Governor of Texas, continue to have a special relationship.

Michael Dell, founder and Chairman of Dell Computers, is a big time supporter of George Bush. Dell has shown his loyalty to Bush by giving him large sums of cash. Bush, in turn, has handed out dozens of contracts to his Austin neighbor. Much of Dell's 35 Billion dollar business is supported by contracts from the DOD and America's largest defense contractors. (Ref 1)

Dell donated the maximum of $200,000 to Bush's 2000 election campaign, and has so far given $250,000 for the re-election. Because of his healthy donation to the campaign, Dell was invited to the inaugural ball, where Bush's wife and twin daughters wore gowns designed by Dell's wife, Susan. (Ref 2)

Its not clear if George and Michael, act like George Michael, or wear these same gowns when alone together, however their business relationship continues to thrive.

6. Computer Ranking
Dell computer's is the number 1 selling computer company. Does the fact that the DOD buys some of his computer help in that ranking or does it have to do with the buying choices of individual people? Also, I think Dell computer's became the top rated company after Bush was elected. Is that true?
