New York Times Tapes Confirm President Bush Smoked Pot; No Word Yet on Whether He Enjoyed It

By ADVOCATE STAFF

Apologies to our nominal President, but: Sir, when a minister asks you about your denials of any past drug use, and you respond, "I wouldn't answer the marijuana questions. You know why? Because I don't want some little kid doing what I tried," is there any convention of decorum or journalism which prevents us from baldly stating that you smoked dope?

Is there any reason we should follow the lead of the mainstream media, which continues to write as though it has a grape and two raisins in its pocket, by saying that you simply "appear" to have lit up during your artfully-concealed wandering years?

Obviously, we weren't there in whatever poorly-lit den of iniquity you did the heinous deed, smelling of patchouli oil and listening to, we imagine, Jefferson Airplane's "Surrealistic Pillow" or, perhaps, mid-period Country Joe & the Fish.

4. We need to let this one go
It's a smokescreen or a set up.

Besides, who really cares if he smoked pot? Most people his age smoked pot in their youth. I know because I am in his generation. We libruls are supposedly tolerant of this and the conservatives will all claim he did this before he found God so it doesn't matter.

Like I said, let's let this one go. The MSM is giving it plenty of attention anyway so we don't need to.

5. Yeah, this is not going to go anywhere plus
it was secretly taped so that means the guy who taped it will be the one to look bad and not the chimp.

7. yep.
the little snippet that was played shows him in a good light over it, because he was concerned "about the children..."

:puke:

let's hear him talk about his coke dealin' days at yale...
or his bull sessions with the bulldog...
this pot thing is a whole lotta nuthin, meant to divert attention from Gannon.
nothing more.

13. Do you suppose
we will eventually hear the truth about the AWOL story as a diversion from some greater scandal? THAT is a nice thought.

So go right ahead, shrubby boy, divert our attention. Tell us more. LOL :)

17. the awol story is dead.
dan rather effectively killed it.

HOWEVER- in some scandal like gannongate succeeds in finally bringing him the fall he so richly deserves, the "other stuff" may be brought back from the grave to pile on.

19. Sure it's dead
But that doesn't mean they won't throw it out as a bone when they think we need a distraction.

6. Headline News reported on this a bit ago...
Said that shrub thought he was in the "confidence of a friend" and didn't elaborate on the drug use because he was saved and didn't want any children to try what he "tried"

give him a break and get off his case.

14. Heard it on ABC; part of the voice didn't sound like Bush. Could this
possibly be another Rathergate trap; something planted to discredit the 'liberal media' and be a pre-emptive counter to any Gannongate scandal that might finally make it to the mainstream. Don't know anything about this Wead guy who recorded the tapes, but i swear the voice that admitted to smoking pot did not sound like Bush, and i am very good at recognizing voices.

18. reminds me of the HST story
where he talks about the time he had a suite at the houston hyatt regency and a young george w. was making a generalized nuisance of himself trying to score coke from everyone in the room until he went and passed out in the bathtub.

w. the cocaine cowboy.

22. He was careful to NOT mention the cocaine that he and his buds snorted.
I wonder why one of them just doesn't fess up? Do they all like him?
I guess they do value their lives, though.
