I don't care if George W. Bush did Smoke Pot
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 07:45 PM by Sandpiper
Seriously, I don't care if George W. Bush smoked pot.

I didn't care that Bill Clinton or Al Gore smoked pot either.

Truth be told, I could give a flying f**k whether any politician has smoked pot.

The only thing that bothers me is the hypocritical drug warrior posturing of politicians who have smoked pot.

"Um, yes, I smoked marijuana... but that doesn't mean other people should."

--Typical dissembling drug warrior politician

I just wish that some of them would finally have the balls to stand up and say:

"Yes, I smoked marijuana. It did me no harm, and keeping it illegal is stupid and nonsensical."

2. It's the lying and the
hypocrisy but they just don't get 'it' or anyway they act like they don't.

3. Look what pot did to bush....................
that's as strong an argument for it's damnation as I've ever seen in any anti-drug campaign. 'Smoke pot, look and talk like bush'. :scared:

I know I'LL never smoke it again!

IF that's what caused bush's 'condition' that is.

13. LOL! except it wasn't the pot that caused Bush's condition...
It was the alcohol, the genes and the environment (his being treated "special" by society and his family because he is a rich white boy). :P

4. I've been loath to trust ANY politician who didn't smoke some pot back in
the 60s or 70s. I damn sure did and almost everyone I knew did too, including then current doctors, judges, and yes, pilots...and since then None of them I've kept in touch with (nearly all) have suffered any ill consequences. One sad kind of 'reversal' to this was that one of my good friends who would never smoke a joint or do any drugs back in the 70s...became a policeman and apparently became dependent a few years ago after reaching his late 40s, had just been promoted to 'Major' in the Muskogee, OK PD and was found dead last year of cocaine overdose. I didn't even know about it for 9 months.

7. That was when we didn't trust anybody over thirty. Now if you can
get your son to move out of the house by the time he's thirty you feel lucky.

10. I agree. Much hypocrisy involved with pro-alcohol/anti-pot in America.
No small coincidence either that alcohol IS big business and all big businesses fear marijuana. The pharmaceutical, timber, oil, and alcohol industries play a huge part in keeping pot illegal. Marijuana also just plain ol' provides a nice way to relax. :smoke:

16. It's a national disgrace...
That there are thousands of people sitting in prison cells for an indulgence no more "dangerous" than alcohol. I chalk it up to cultural elitism. Booze is something enjoyed by the rich, white ruling class. They love to sip their brandies and obsess over their expensive bottles of wine. But weed is seen as something for hippies, niggers, kids, and other "lower peoples." They can't justify it within their own circles. It is so incredibly unjust that people can be arrested, and sent to prison alongside brutal criminals for possession of marijuana.

It is incredibly hypocritical for politicians to send people to those same prisons, while they themselves enjoyed the leaf during their "young and stupid" days.

Marijuana should be decriminalized now. All non-violent inmates incarcerated for marijuana sale or possession should be granted amnesty. Weed should be treated just like any other legal drug. Have the FDA regulate it. Make sure people are getting good shit. Hell, even tax it if you must. The government would clean up. There would be no more smuggling. Dealers would become legitimate business enterprises. There would be no need for violent underground crime syndicates and shootouts with NARCS. That last part may be a Utopian view, but nevertheless. Marijuana use is a personal choice. It is no more harmful than alcohol. It should be decriminalized.
