I live in the town I grew up in. There is a certain amount of community here. I could hunker down and stay local.

If I survive, I would have to marshall whatever assets I have that are usable and try to formulate a plan, but if you don't know what will survive a terrorist attack, like your home, or your water supply or food, there is no point in making any plans. I will say that I am planning on moving some money out of the country just in case.

If as they say within twenty years the climate really changes or if as some economists say that we may be in for a depression that will beat the one from the twenties.
I am prepared as well as can be and just in case am planning ahead. I was in the girl scouts.

We've got enough food stored to last about 6 weeks, water for about 3 weeks. I'm thinking of picking up a book on urban survival from Amazon just in case. I have family that lives in the country out of town, but I can't always count on reaching them. Our weakest links are water, dog food, and I desparately need more rifle ammunition. I have a Freeplay multi-band radio receiver and light, candles, and such as well. In light of this administration's war mongering with nuclear armed states, preparation would be a prudent measure.

23. I guess it depends upon the individual...

at this point, I have a SO, a daughter, and two chihuahuas to look after, so I consider it my responsibility as the man of the house to insure that contingency plans are there just in case. My contingency plans include basics: food, water, basic first aid, and the means to protect ourselves effectively against whatever. Urban survival is such a different game than in a rural area, but when you consider such areas as Beirut in the 1980's or any city in Europe during WW2, it is possible and people can endure.

25. Funny how many posts mention needing dog food. If things get

bad enough, dogs ARE food. Try to see a movie from 1962, "Panic in Year Zero" a/k/a "The End of the World." Ray Milland stared and directed. It will give you lots of survivalist ideas. I lived through the Cold War, eventually thinking about all this end of the world stuff gets a person down and you shut it off.

What is really strange about the 21st century, (I prefer to call it the uh-ohs)is that we are in what looks like a hundred year war over a resource that will be gone in a hundred years. Seems like we could make better use of our time.
