6. There is no explanation why.
Don't real suicides leave notes? I hope someone has the courage to investigate this.

13. that is a myth actually
Many suicides don't leave a note. Suicide is actually a very selfish end and by leaving a note you give loved ones an explanation for this course of action and in many cases that is not the case. Many family members of people who commit suicide live their lives not knowing and wondering if they could have done anything to help.

11. R.I.P. HST
There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda... You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning...

And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave...

So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

12. Myths and legends...
"Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men's reality. Weird heroes and mould-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of ''the rat race'' is not yet final."

He was a wonderful commentator. Probably it will emerge that there was some health issue: he was a fellow who would not lightly suffer impairment, at least not impairment that was not chemical in nature....

23. Hunter
As I posted in LBN, it is a great loss but not news that particularly surprises me. The Gonzo man lived life on his own terms at all times. It is only fitting that he died on his own terms. I do find it very sad that Juan had to find the body. RIP, Hunter.

34. Just reading about it now.....totally fucking bummed.
He's been a 35 year part of my life.

I suspect that the hard, keen edge of his life caught up with him. This brave new world is the antithesis of what he lived and breathed. He probably said, "fuck it".....

What a shitty day for me. My wife's mom had a stroke this AM, been to the hospital all day....come home and read this......unfucking real....

I slept late. I'm checking in on Will Pitt's posts while drinking my one, forbidden cup of coffee and this is what I find.

Shit, shit, shit, shit!!!!

I'm so sorry that your heart was broken, Hunter.

May you find neither fear nor loathing on the other side.
