History is repeating itself
This is the same crap how we got into Viet Nam. Then it was communism, now it is terrorism.

We went to Viet Nam based on a lie, Gulf of Token
We went to Iraq based on a lie, WMDs

Anyone who was against the Viet Nam war was a communist or unamerican

Anyone who was against going into Iraq was anti-american

Both wars used fear, and the media to propogate it

Both wars were run by people who didn't understand the HISTORY of the countries they were invading

Unfortunately, we are going to pay the consequences of our actions

You'd think that since Vietnam should still be fresh in the minds of the people now in charge of running things, that we'd stop and pause to see these reemerging trends.

Just more evidence, in my opinion, that we have regressed into a culture of overstimulated amnesiacs.

4. The neocons agree. They merely think that Vietnam could have ended well
They think that the real problem with vietnam wasn't anything you describe. It was stopping. It was not sticking with the war for another fifty thou dead, more lies, more money, more antidemocratic actions.

So when you tell a neocon that Iraq looks like Vietnam, they will lie and say, no no no. But in their hearts, they say yes it is, but with the twist: we aren't trying to leave the quagmire.

7. We're not trying to leave it YET...
...but neither were LBJ and Tricky Dicky, until un-American liberal hippy pinkos at home started talking them into it.

And twenty years after Iraqnam is over and has become widely known as another shameful episode in America's history, look for the neo-fascist scumbags coming out of the woodwork and blaming the defeat on... guess who?

You guys!

9. Sure nuff. We'll bug out, Iraq will collapse, and it will be all
our fault because we wouldn't stick it out when victory was JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
