Was Hunter Thompson pro-gun?
I was not a regular reader of his work. Was he an opponent of gun control as I have heard?

1. Um...
he owned dozens or maybe even hundreds of firearms and was a life member of the NRA (but then so is Michael Moore).

6. Hunter was not into gun control.
No. He really defended the second amendment.

OTOH, he opposed oppression, corruption, and chickenhawks.

The fact that he kept guns, big guns, loud guns, scary guns
is probably the only factor that allowed the time of his death to be of his choosing.

No, he was very into guns. He used to shoot propane tanks from a distance for fun.

9. Saw Some Great Footage Of Him Destroying A Jeep
With a heavy machine gun once. Very entertaining.

Added bonus, he made the guy that was showing up to interview him mow his HUGE lawn before agreeing to talk to him. Showed the proper respect for the media.

I'd love to see Wolf out there mowing for an interview.

13. Too, too funny.
It really doesn't get much more hardcore than Hunter Thompson.

This man was the last man standing from the Vietnam generation: The last one to sell out.

Even Dylan did his Victoria's Secret ad first.

21. Rolling Stone called him a sell-out for "Where the Buffalo Roamed"
He apparently had gotten into a habit in the 70s of selling film rights to his material to anyone with $50,000.00. The films would never get made and he found a steady source of income. Then someone actually managed to make a damn movie, which was decidedly awful (despite a pretty good performance from Bill Murray). Rolling Stoned panned it, and even Thompson quickly distanced himself.

10. I'm sorry...that's a really funny question to anyone who read him
One of his favorite hobbies was drunkenly firing guns into the woods around his house.

A quote from an interview I found:

" I think George Washington owned guns. I've never seen any contradiction with that. I'm not a liberal, by the way. I think that's what's wrong with liberals. I believe I have every right to have guns. I just bought another huge weapon. A lot of people shouldn't own guns. I should. I have a safety record. Guns are a lot of fun out here."

17. Only slightly
Hunter Thompson would have bought a self-propelled howitzer if anyone would have sold him one. And he would have fired it too. He loved his guns.
