What was Bush's answer to the "divorced from reality" question?
We've all seen the video of "Gannon" asking the question millions of times on TV, but I've never actually seen Bush's answer. What was it?

BTW, I've been gone from DU for a while, but this Gannongate thing is just too sweet. FINALLY something that looks like it may stick!

1. I think he ducked the implications on both sides
Here's the answer. THE PRESIDENT: Continue to speak to the American people. Right after my State of the Union, I think I'm going to four or five states to continue to address this issue. You know, I can remember President Clinton doing the same thing on Social Security. I thought he was very effective in teeing up the issue, of making the case. And I will do the same thing. There is a -- in terms of whether the economy is growing or not, there is a -- the jobs are increasing, the forecast looks strong. Obviously, there are some things we need to do to make sure that America is a good place to continue to risk capital and invest. That's why I'm urging the Congress to pass legal reform.

3. What about the question just PRIOR to Gannon's softball?
Bravo (fellow DUer's) observation-

What about the question just PRIOR to Gannon's softball?

Most of us are by now familiar with Jeff Gannon's now infamous "How are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality?" But does anyone recall the question which immediately preceded Bush calling on Gannon? Bush was asked, "Mr. President, do you think it's a proper use of government funds to pay commentators to promote your policies?" Yep, immediately after dealing with a question about fake journalism, our resident dumb ass calls on, you guessed it, a fake journalist! If this fucker didn't exist, someone would have to invent him.

8. That's pretty funny
Like he wanted to make sure he wasn't threatened - or even just subconsciously thought "Gannon"...

6. What ? Bush never answers on cocaine use and now Dems are smeared
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 12:32 PM by EVDebs
by a faux reporter ? Bush then has 'secret tapes' surface to humanize him and further smear Dems (Gore et al), while the 'War on Drugs' that Gary Webb was fighting without govt. help goes on. What is wrong with this picture MSM ?

Seems Operation Mockingbird - CIA's media manipulation project-- and military's psy ops domestic media manipulation -- are in full swing. How can they be hijacked from war and DoD related uses into political debate domestic policy issues I ASK YOU ?

And again, Dems get slammed for being divorced from reality, as Bush describes it. Pathetic.

7. IMHO truth be told W didn't look like me much liked calling on Gannon
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 01:23 PM by underpants
Did I temper that down enough?

I saw the a few days ago again and W really don't look like he wanted to call on Gannon and he sure didn't look to comfortable especially considering that this was a time killer and out for him.

Just my observations.

To answer your question-not really much as usual. He basically took what Rove thinks is the high road and let someone else take the pain for him.
