The Fox News special Hollywood vs. America aired last night and it was fucking hilarious. They had some of the worst analogies and segments I have ever seen in a mainstream news broadcast. It was a sure hit piece on Hollywood, but it was so over the top ridiculous I wasn't really all that affected. They had examples of liberalism like this:
The villains in the original Manchurian Candidate were communists, the movie takes place during the Korean War. In the new version the communists are removed. They said this was proof of a liberal bias (IE: liberals love communists)... They forgot to mention that the new version takes place in the 1990's and is about the first Gulf War....hence... Communists gone.
They also did pieces to show bias were they dressed some creepy looking guy as an "average patriotic American"... which in Fox News' world is dressing him in a very colorful George Bush T-Shirt and giant American Flag hat and having the guy go around asking people on the street if they were waiting for the Young Republicans Club meeting. The Camera caught the peoples startled reaction... (IE: They must hate Middle Americans and republicans)... again... proof of liberal bias in Hollywood.
The were claiming that Hollywood was conservative until the 1960's when (quote) the "pot smokers" took charge. They said Bogart was patriotic, hence they said that made him a conservative. They even claimed that Thomas Edison was a conservative (?!?!?). Of course Hollywood has ALWAYS been left-leaning... but they seemed to explain that Hollywood was conservative because they made the Sound of Music (?!?)... Then they did the obvious cultural flame bait with Academy Awards. They did .. "How come all the snobbish critic's awards go to films no one has ever seen? (IE: Ray and Finding Neverland as examples used) and not Spider-Man"... "Look how out of touch they are with mainstream America"...
Here is a clip I ripped somewhere in the middle of the program..
http://webpages.charter.net/dan-doug/blog/foxnews1.wmvEven is that clip there is this undertone with that WW2/Hitler reference as if Michael Moore would of been pro-Hitler.
