A Great Article on "Gannongate"
Mike Hudson's article "Gannongate Scandal Eludes Local Dailies" is an interesting article that pays tribute to the left-wing bloggers. He writes that, "...today's bloggers have been on the current scandal like white on rice." See:

1. Just a suggestion ....
but it might be worthwhile for DUers to write to Congresswoman Louise Slaughter to encourage her to keep up her efforts to expose the truth about Gannon's role with the administration.

3. Will do
The Philadelphia Inquirer won't even touch it but they were all over the Monica scandal.

I loved this snippet from the article:

It's a strange business, this journalism racket. On one hand, you've got a fake news organization employing a fake reporter who turns out to be a gay prostitute gaining access to the highest level of American government and being made privy to classified documents. On the other hand, you've got a bunch of dedicated amateurs who know how to use computers and the Internet exposing him, something the Secret Service and the FBI apparently were unable to do.

So much for "Homeland Security."

7. ...Back on earth:
"Days after writing her letter to the president, Rep. Slaughter along with Rep. John Conyers of Michigan called on the Secret Service to launch its own investigation, and referred the matter to Patrick Fitzgerald, the special Justice Department prosecutor investigating the leaking of undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity to the media. House Democratic Whip Hoyer of Maryland also encouraged the special counsel to look into the matter. And Sen. frank Lautenberg of New Jersey called upon White House Secretary Scott McClellan to release all documents related to Gannon." - Mike Hudson

13. So What Do You Think?
Does Gannongate have the legs to go all the way? Can it keep building and move upwards?

14. Gannongate
is a piece of a larger puzzle. It will not be THE event that changes the course of history, or the single thing that causes the Bush administration to self-destruct. But it will be part of the triple scandal (Plame/neocon spy/forged yellow cake documents) that will define the second term of the Bush2 presidency, much as Watergate defined Nixon's.

17. That's What I Think Too
But I'm wondering what it will be that lights the fuse. I'm still thinking it will be Plame, and indictments.

18. There is another
thread on GD now, regarding Rep M Hinchey (D-NY) that I think is extremely important. I think that DUers should be contacting the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, and requesting editor David Rossie consider the story. (I have a specific reason for making this request.)

15. "Shallow Throat"
by Bernard Weiner, Ph.D, is another in a series of wonderful essays that represent the best in journalism today.

"And then, of course, there's the 'Jeff Gannon' scandal. Someone high up in the administration, either Scott McClellan's office or even higher -- and you know who I mean -- moved 'Jeff Gannon' (real name Jeff Guckert) into the White House press corps, fed him scoops, enlisted him in dirty-tricks against Dem candidates, and made sure he was always there to throw puffball questions to McClellan and Bush."

19. More lies!
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 02:54 PM by H2O Man
Speaking of prostitutes servicing the White House, Bruce Sanford & Victoria Toensing continue to push their story that "no law was broken in exposing Plame's identity" in this most pathetic of articles of disinformation.

The article state that "the myth that laws were violated" could have been exposed as false during the Cooper/Miller appeal in federal court, but the attorneys for TIME/NYT's "would be too embarrassed to admit that the Bush administration 'crime of the century' wasn't a crime at all." The author should be ashamed for writing that; can you imagine that the attorneys for Cooper/Miller refused to say that no crime was committed, and instead are willing to let their clients serve time in jail, because they are "embarrassed"?

20. Victoria Toensing Has Always Been An Apologists For The Pugs
Both she and her husband, Di Genova. started with Clinton and how the bj was an absolute travesty and Clinton was surely guilty and deserved impeachment for that and whitewater. They have shilled ever since. They are part of the black is white people and must certainly believe that laws were written for everyone else but them. Interesting that a grand jury, the Justice dept, the CIA, Hogan, and the justices who voted 3-0 on the appeal, all seem to thing this is a valid case. Interestingly, she and Bruce Fein are usually on the same page, but not on this. I feel sorry for any innocent person who may have been prosecuted by her, they didn't stand a chance at justice.

21. That's right.
She ignores the fact that the federal judges ruled that the journalists have to testify, because the grand jury is investigating a serious crime. She is a good example of the type of republican who will overlook serious crimes for political purposes, and who will exploit a non-crime for political gain.
