but I do know that Chuck Colsen was the first to discover the power behind the epiphany that being born again will allow one to accumulate power and erase all past criminal activity. He took that and ran with it.

He capitalized on that, wrote a book on his conversion, supposedly a reflection on all the wrongs he had done in the Watergate scandal, then went on to use his normal inclination toward con man games and dirty tricks by manipulating the take over of the Southern Baptist Convention by right wing evangelists.

We now see him back in power in the prisons, seeking to convert the prisoners to Christianity.

He is simply using religion as another tool. He is a natural con man and has not changed a bit, imo.

He has simply substituted religion for the abuses of the Nixon administration.
