Is The Jeff Gannon Saga Officially Dead?
Jeff Gannon, (aka James Guckert) the former White House reporter for Talon News has been all the rage within the left-wing blogosphere since before CNN executive Eason Jordan resigned. It has made some brief appearances in the old media, but has yet to gain any substantial traction. The left desperately wanted to paint this as a major news story of some sort, but with what they had uncovered, they would face quite the challenge.

This tempest in a teapot "story" lacked the main ingredient needed to get the American news consumer to pay attention. A known name. No matter how the left wing moonbats tried they just couldn't get the news consumer to care. They had naked pictures, gay prostitution, and a partisan reporter asking the president a question. There were claims that the White House planted this guy in the White House press corps to spread propaganda. But with all of those accusations, they just couldn't get the American news consumer to care.

This fictional water cooler conversation (and a poor attempt at satire) explains why when you mention Jeff Gannon (or James Guckert)---the news consumer still says--who?

Moonbat: What do you think of Jeff Gannon? You know the guy from Talon News.

Consumer: Who?

The rest is at...

4. Not this time MSM
Normally when you say a story is dead, it's dead. Not anymore. If there's one thing that this whole Gannon thing has demonstrated, it's that you don't always call the shots anymore.

5. I tried to tell you people
that this story would die out after about a week. Did you really think that if the story of Valerie Plame lost steam after two weeks that this would go anywhere, other than into the archives of the internet.

Ok, back to Michael Jackson now.

7. None of the important questions have been answered...
...not about Gannon/Guckert, not about 9-11, not about the lead up to Iraq, not about the election, not about the pundit payola for propaganda. Everytime questions have been raised, this criminal regimes response has been to try and change the subject.

Gannon story is dead? A few are adamant in their conviction that 'there is no real story'.

17. Good point, alittlelark.
I was just wondering why all the "Gannon story is dead" and "we are going after the wrong target" posts greeted me so early this a.m.

I don't for one minute believe it is dead and no, we are not going after the wrong target.

23. See comment 21.
The only reason it "greeted" you this morning is that is was posted last night, and I caught it and thought it worth sharing.

You don't really think that everyone agrees with what they post, I hope.

26. Because it's dead. The MSM killed it for Bush
and yes, tehre is a real story there, but the media has covered it up for Bush while nearly all of the Congressional Democrats try on pink tutus.

9. I smell Karl Rove panic on the recent "Bush tapes"
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 04:03 AM by nascarblue
When I listened to the tapes myself a couple hours ago, it struck me that the story wasn't really the marijuana smoking, but the " I won't fire gays" story. To me, this feels like a Rove red herring to defer attention from a possible panic that the "Jeff Gannon" aka Bulldog will not go away. We have ourselves to thank for that. Even though CNN has tried twice to damage control this situation, John Stewart, Bill Maher, and Keith Olbermann have given it decent coverage. (though I was a bit pissed at Olbermann for having a Knight Ridder guest commentator, considering what we know of Knight Ridder being a lil' bit of Rev. Moon with a dash of Ruppert Murdoch)

Of course, I may be wrong. But many of you may not remember, but this isn't the 1st time a Bush White House has been tied to a gay prostitute scandal. George H.W. Bush 41 had two. Yes, it's true. It's not a conspiracy theory. And we all know that many of the same players are in the White House cabinet with Bush 43. (Negroponte, Rove, Rummy, Cheney, etc.)

A couple of links you should look up are...http://www.kmf.org/williams/bushbook/bush21.html .

This is a link to Chapter 21 of the book "George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography" written by Webster Tarpley. This biography has been validated by many critics in the real free world...I.E. Pacifica Radio, Free Speech Television, Democracy Now, as well as all of Europe. It's out of print now, but it is online in it's entirity at the link above.

The second link I would point you to is the Boys Town/Franklin Scandal that took place in 1988-89. Of course it had been going on for many years, but didn't come to light until 1989. Here's the link.
Also there was a documentary made in 1994 that was pulled at the last minute under heavy pressure and threats from the Republican party as well as others. Somehow it got leaked and it is posted on this same website. Worth checking out...
http://www.thelawparty.org/FranklinCoverup/franklin.htm

If you want to keep this story going, not only is this a good addition to the gay prostitution, but you will find in the article underage teenagers. It was especially fine to note that the FBI did their best to cover it up, but out of the 19 eyewitnesses that could testify, the FBI only questioned two. One was a woman who was only 15 at the time and testified under polygraph that she saw George Bush leave with a 19 year old black boy...

10. The sensati The sensasionalism angle of this story may have been
ignored by the Whore Media because it makes them look like the Whores that they are but the real story of how Gannon got in to the WH Pres core and his inside info is being investigated by actual reporters that aren't bought and paid for by the Bush Junta. This may take a few weeks or months. If nothing can be uncovered then the story will go down the old memory hole.

15. Why would Rove be "panicking"?
He invented the damn tapes.
And he's laughing at us,too.

Consider: "Secret tapes" with the voice of Chimpy on them talking about how he MIGHT have smoked dope, recorded and released by some guy named "Wead"...

But it sure as shit got everyone's attention off of "Mr. Eight Inches, Cut", didn't it?.

19. Maybe not panic, but a red herring...
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 08:11 AM by nascarblue
What I mean is maybe these tapes came out because of the Gannon aka Bulldog story? The point I was making is don't follow the smelly fish. I know Olbermann didn't last night. he was pretty dismissive of the tapes...

A great Bush lecture by Webster Tarpley, author of the Bush biography can be seen here...

11. Nope. Today, I heard mention of Gannon/Guckert at least a dozen times on:
ABC, MSNBC, CNN, Comedy Central, AAR, radiopower.org, KGO-870 AM, KIRO. I only watched the Sci-Fi channel on TV today, but when I flipped to the news channels during commercials, I saw coverage of Gannon a few times.

My impression is the opposite of yours.

NATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
Two reporters' plight offers lesson on bias
By Peter S. Canellos, Globe Staff | February 22, 2005

WASHINGTON -- The media -- its privileges, practices, biases, and battles with the government -- were in the news last week, as has often happened through a long period of reckoning for the Fourth Estate. When the dust settled on a number of controversies, one fact stood out: Two reporters are willing to go to jail to protect an unnamed Bush administration official.

The reporters have been called to testify in a criminal probe into who may have exposed the identity of a CIA agent to punish her husband for challenging President Bush's assertion that Iraq had sought nuclear materials in Africa.

Neither Judith Miller of The New York Times nor Matthew Cooper of Time magazine wrote the offending story, but the special counsel investigating the case thinks Miller, at least, spoke to an official who is a target of the investigation. Neither she nor Cooper will testify, and they seem likely to be jailed for contempt of court. Last week, a court ruled they had no First Amendment right to shield information from a criminal inquiry.

Their willingness to give up their freedom rather than their source may give some pause to Bush supporters who believe that the mainstream media exist to thwart the administration. And it might also give pause to people who, over the past few weeks, have contended that there is no meaningful difference between the mainstream media and the website Talon News, run by a GOP operative who publishes large parts of White House press releases verbatim.

16. Today (2-22-05)
Gannon is being connected to the Plame case in over 55 articles in newspapers, journals, and magazines across the country. At least four people in the congress have requested further information from the White House, the Secret Service, and to have Patrick Fitzgerald investigate the Plame link further.

Consider the length of time that Gannon has been in the news, and how little is known about him. I would suggest that any other momentary celebrity would have had their life story fairly well detailed by now. Yet the media has found nothing beyond what Gannon posted on the web himself. That would seem to indicate that Gannon is not who he has been presented as on the web.

The story is thus only "dead" in the context of the White House press corpse.

Like records,to 8-tracks,to cassettes,to CDs, to MP3s, so evolves the MSM and the people's media toolbox. Decentralization is our prize. Continue with a vengeance, but choose our battles wisely. Congratulations. Many of us are new to this, but we're learning fast and our children are very good and will not be fooled.:toast: :bounce: :headbang:
