As part of the compact, Iyad Allawi, the current U.S.-backed prime minister would be given the important post of minister of defense.

The Minister of Defense post also may be strenghened for Allawi to give him more power over Iraq's fledgling military forces. And, isn't Chalabi still wanted for stealing millions from the bank of Petra in Jordan.

Is probably the most likely of the two considering Jafari met with Allawi yesterday to make a deal.
