Dubya Beats George Washington????!!!!
http://starrcenter.washcoll.edu/poll/

This was in our Virginia Pilot today. Fortunately, the entire country has not gone effing insane, because old George Washington (you know, the 1ST President, the Standard Setter, the FATHER OF OUR EFFING COUNTRY), you know, that guy, beats Dubya by 20 points.

But look at the Repub numbers! Among Republicans, Dubya was prefered more than 2-1 over George Washington!!????

What's even more scary is that 10% of those identifying themselves as Democrats picked "W" over the guy on the $1 bill.

We are definitely "not in Kansas anymore Toto", when repukes pick W over Washington by 2-1. These people are sadly, beyond help.

3. That's got to be crap
"What's even more scary is that 10% of those identifying themselves as Democrats picked "W" over the guy on the $1 bill."

The operative words there are "identifying themselves." The poll is skewed. I will never believe that. They gotta get up a lot earlier in the morning to fool me on that one. Nice try, though.

And, apparently, most of the repukes polled probably aren't smart enough to have a clue about George Washington, or they would be shitting in their pants over how the current King George is washing his hands of everything the Founding Fathers stood for.

5. Honestly
I mean. If I took that question literally my two choices of people to vote for would be George W Bush and a Zombie Undead George Washington.

Are you kidding me? Can I vote for a third party?

6. It's meaningless
For example:
100% of the people I just polled think that George Bush is a wanker and should be impeached. Who did I poll? Me and my girlfriend. If I had included me girlfriend's sister in the poll the numbers would have dropped to 66%. That is still way over half but not as good as 100% So I didn't include her in this poll. Enough with the polls already, they are meaningless propaganda!

9. Understand your point of view
but when Republicans pick this "ass-pickle" 2-1 over one of the founding fathers of our country, we have knocked just fallen through the "looking glass" we've taken a fucking sledge hammer to it.

I think the folks who did the poll are fairly competent, and they did not just ask 2-3 people.

To me it re-affirms the argument that this current administration could be caught with a male prostitute running around the White House, using a false name, writing for a fake paper, bringing shame and discredit on the Marines, giving a verbal blow-job to the pResident at press conferences, and people would just shrug.

Oh...Nevermind

7. You gotta remember
most of the poll respondents have no idea who the hell George Washington is, especially among the repug respondents. These people have no information, and yes, that means they are ignorant.

13. There are a lot of republicans...
who would vote for Bush, even if he had raped and killed their own child. They would do all kinds of mental gymnastics to try and find an excuse for him.

I don't think Dumbya is even in Washington's league as an intellect or as a human being, but the values of that time make it hard for me to look on the "founding fathers" with the same untarnished admiration I had for them as a child...

17. Me Too
I also find it "hard to look on the 'founding fathers' with the same untarnished admiration I had for them as a child"

But, I often wonder how they would fit into today's society, and how they would respond to today's values.

I get so pissed when I hear some "fundy" telling me that "our foundations are crumbling", or that "we are in a moral decline", or that "we are overdue for judgement".

When they do, I simply point out that 200 years ago we bought and sold other human beings, 50 years ago we lynched human beings without trial, 30 years ago we denied human beings their basic rights because of the color of their skin. If the "foundations" weren't crumbling back then, they sure as hell are not crumbling now!

Truth is that GWB could not hold George Washingtons jock-strap.

Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 03:04 PM by Stirk
People in this country are more likely to know who won the last Survivor challenge than who won the Revolutionary War. The Bush presidency is a product of our stupid, infotainment TV culture.
