Does Bush ever tell the truth?
I lived through President Reagan, and while I found his policies dreadful I never really hated him. Maybe I considered him out of touch, maybe I just figured he was old, or maybe it was because he occasionally would tell the truth.

The latest example of what an utter liar this man is, is the tapes. Here is what he said about gays on the tapes:

But Mr. Bush said he did not intend to change his position. He said he told Mr. Robison: "Look, James, I got to tell you two things right off the bat. One, I'm not going to kick gays, because I'm a sinner. How can I differentiate sin?"

Later, he read aloud an aide's report from a convention of the Christian Coalition, a conservative political group: "This crowd uses gays as the enemy. It's hard to distinguish between fear of the homosexual political agenda and fear of homosexuality, however."

"This is an issue I have been trying to downplay," Mr. Bush said. "I think it is bad for Republicans to be kicking gays."

Told that one conservative supporter was saying Mr. Bush had pledged not to hire gay people, Mr. Bush said sharply: "No, what I said was, I wouldn't fire gays."

As early as 1998, however, Mr. Bush had already identified one gay-rights issue where he found common ground with conservative Christians: same-sex marriage. "Gay marriage, I am against that. Special rights, I am against that," Mr. Bush told Mr. Wead, five years before a Massachusetts court brought the issue to national attention.

end of quote

Gee Mr. President, I am glad you didn't kick us. It isn't like you said anti sodomy laws send a good message (no wait, it was). It isn't like you proposed an amendment to the constitution carving out special rights for staights (no wait, it was). But, as usual it was just another, in a long list, of lies.

The man lies about the trivial (the alledged trashing of the White House by Clinton\Gore staffers, whether he reads newspapers or not, and a host of other things), he lies to take credit for that which he didn't do (Texas patients bill of rights, taking credit for Catholic Charities care of indigent patients, claiming he executed the killers of Byrd), he lies to avoid blame for what he did do (claims that WMD were found in Iraq, drunk driving arrest), and he lies when the truth would be better (the Gannon affair). He literally is incapable of uttering a truthful statement.

It turns out even when he is taped against his knowledge, he just can't help himself. He even lies then.

I will go to my grave wondering how 1/5 of our country could vote for this man on moral grounds. Is bearing false witness no longer a banned activity?

3. I think if he tells someone he's hungry
there might be a small chance he's telling the truth. Other than that, I don't think much truth escapes from his mouth.

2. He told a whopper today in Europe about how we all need
to get along and mend fences or something like that and that the US is ready to sit down at the table and negotiate our differences. Sure, Georgie. They aren't as stupid as we are. They KNOW his words have no credibility.

6. He and his rogues...
have lied so much now that they can't tell the truth. They're at the point where they're lying about their lies. Pinocchio would shake his head in disgust.

8. Hell yes: "I'm interested in having an arsenal at my disposal..." 3/13/02
His speaches are FULL of this stuff. To his credit, bush has been one of the most inadvertantly honest presidents we've had. Unfortunately, his supporters insist on hearing what they want to hear instead of what he actually says.
