NY Times Ed: "The Major Press is Under Attack"
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 10:51 PM by tuvor
Here's why the press won't touch Guckert. They're jealous, plain and simple!

"The Major Press is Under Attack"

By William Rivers Pitt,

Bill Keller, executive editor of The New York Times, was the keynote speaker at Columbia University's Blue Pencil Dinner on Friday night. In his talk, he made it abundantly clear that the flagship of American journalism doesn't think much of the rise of the alternative media:

<snip>

Keller also sees "blogging," or online writing that blurs news and commentary, as a mixed blessing. While he celebrated the bloggers' ability to uncover breaking news, he noted that a blogger's inherent bias might be detrimental to the reader. "A blog is still a view of the world through a pinhole," he said, noting that it can sometimes fall as low as being a "one man circle jerk."

Cry me a river and do your fucking job. Pussies!

4. What?!
That idiot is talking about BLOGGERS blurring the line between commentary and news?

All you have to do is pick up the Washington Times! Every single freakin page of the Washington Times is an editorial page. They have no more hard news! They editorial hard news stories.

So this idiot has got to be kidding me. What a whiny biotch.

5. The major press needs to DO ITS DAMN JOB!
If it even remembers how to do it, as opposed to fellating the Corporate Masters and this misAdministration.

If the MSM did its job, there would be no need for bloggers.

is it (gasp) because some bloggers are liberal? More accurate? More responsbile?

Really. How are bloggers different from talk (nee: hate) radio which the media ignored for years?

12. Love The Five Ways To Protect Privacy
Terrific article! Those hypocrites at the Times must be grey with envy. Few of them have exhibited any journalistic courage and integrity in the last 4+ years. Many jumped into GW's and the neo-con laps and have been dancing ever since.

15. Idiot
People in the Lame Stream Media want to go back to the days when they and they only framed the news stories of the day. Those days are long gone, Mr. Keller. Do your job right and you will never have to worry about bloggers.

Here's a clue, Mr. Keller. The bloggers are upfront about their "bias" or their point of view. They aren't pretending to be something they aren't. A reader can make their own judgment about a blog or a blogger. That's right Mr. Keller, the bloggers trust their readers to make their own judgments. I suspect that you don't.
