Frontline replaced in San Diego...
The Frontline show "Company of Soldiers" about the infantry in Iraq.. the one that was going to broadcast a version with profanity... isn't playing at all on the San Diego station.

It was in the paper, on the program guide of my satellite TV, and even shows on their web page as "Now Playing", but it's just not on TV.

1. Dude! That Sucks!
It was intense, and both my PBS Stations ran the Bleeped version, but:wtf:

Maybe they think it' will scare away the New Recruits if they see that it's still a War over there.

2. A soldier says "aw, shit" when they shoot a civilian.
"What happened?!"

"Looks like we've got one of them there collateral damages"

"What you mean it was us?"

"Well, ye.. uh... I er... supp... uh... I dunno."

Followed by a shot of an Iraqi man slumping over the back seat of a car twitching and with gray matter falling out a hole in his head.

What's that line from Apocalypse Now, about how you can't right "fuck you" on the nosecone of a bomb, because that would be obscene?

3. WGBH, Boston
Because WGBH is in Boston, I've been tracking this latest form of censorship in the Massachusetts forum - see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=158x3169

Not to appear proud, but I am very forunate to receive 5 PBS stations here:

WGBH & WGBX - Boston
WENH - New Hampshire
WURI - Rhode Island
& a new station from WGBH - WORLD.

You need to write a letter to the station manager expressing your beliefs.

5. Well then Count GPB and WPBA-Atlanta as Bleepers
Both ran the Bleeped versions, the cowards. GPB = Georgia Public Broadcasting.
