REPUBLICANS, BLOGGERS AND GAYS, OH MY!

By Ann Coulter

In response to the public disgrace and ruin of New York Times editor Howell Raines, CBS anchor Dan Rather and CNN news director Eason Jordan, liberals are directing their fury at the blogs. Once derided as people sitting around their living rooms in pajamas, now obscure writers for unknown Web sites are coming under more intensive background checks than CIA (news - web sites) agents.

The heretofore-unknown Jeff Gannon of the heretofore-unknown "Talon News" service was caught red-handed asking friendly questions at a White House press briefing. Now the media is hot on the trail of a gay escort service that Gannon may have run some years ago. Are we supposed to like gay people now, or hate them? Is there a Web site where I can go to and find out how the Democrats want me to feel about gay people on a moment-to-moment basis?

Liberals keep rolling out a scrolling series of attacks on Gannon for their Two Minutes Hate, but all their other charges against him fall apart after three seconds of scrutiny. Gannon's only offense is that he may be gay.

....

Gannon didn't write about gays. No "hypocrisy" is being exposed. Liberals' hateful, frothing-at-the-mouth campaign against Gannon consists solely of their claim that he is gay.

Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 09:41 PM by ocelot
who posted naked pictures of himself on the Internet and had no journalism experience, but claimed to represent for a new and obscure liberal news service and used a fake name to get daily access to Mike McCurry's press briefings and repeatedly lobbed softball questions with a clear liberal bias, she would absolutely, certainly have leaped to his defense, too...

Why do this repugs not understand that Gannon is a prostitute -- engaging in illegal activity. It doesn't matter which side he swings from, it's still illegal.

13. Well, he is THEIR gay prostitute propagandist
He is a member of THE PARTY. Members of the PARTY must be defended against all criticisms and attacks by Enemies of the State.

Of course, the ACTUAL story...how a man with a false monniker and no ID and, in the beginning.

Ernst Roehm was gay, too. Did you know that?

No race, creed or other group doesn't carry within it some members prone to evil, to be part of THE PARTY and that unchecked power.

No one is immune. We are all human.

17. Paul Krugman calls it IOKIYAR,
"It's OK if you are Republican." In other words, anything is acceptable if you are Republican, even if the same thing would be used by right wingers to destroy you if you were a Democrat.

Besides, the gay prostitute with naked pictures on the internet is only a minor part of the story. The real story is that he was a prpagandist who received special treatment by the WH, who bypassed proper secrity checks in a super security conscious WH, and who was given a press pass that real jouranlists have a hard time getting. The issue is the same as the issue of paying Armstrong WIlliams to promote Bush's agenda. The government is disseminating propaganda in the most blatant way.

The fact that he is a naked gay male prostitute in the family values White House living room is just gravy.

16. What? No mention that Gannon wasn't really a journalist?
Who the Hell in the White House failed to do any background checks on Gannon in the first place?

How does someone use an alias and gain access to the White House and the President without being checked out at all during a time of WAR?

Hello Miss Coulter, are you aware of something called National Security and how it relates to the White House?

18. This is one of her most disgusting pieces ever
First she dogs MSNBC:
By the way, if writing for a news organization with no viewers is grounds for being denied a press pass, why do MSNBC reporters have them?
Whassa matter, ann, jealous?

Then she goes after Helen Thomas:
that dyspeptic, old Helen Thomas

and Maureeen Dowd
it would be suspicious if Dowd were denied a press pass while someone from "Talon News" got one, even if he is a better reporter.

But here is the best part. Bill Clinton invented a name because his stepfather adopted him?
How did Gary Hartpence, Billy Blythe and John Kohn (Gary Hart, Bill Clinton and John Kerry) run for president under invented names?

20. If Coulter is talking Gannon
and, as always, outright lying...."gay escort service that Gannon may have run some years ago"... then the right is worriied. They were supposed to keep quiet on Gannon, as is Bush's way whenever negatives appear. Just wait it out and pretend it doesn't exist. Is Ann unable to use the internet? Gannon was featured on several websites, naked, while he was being issued press passes. Ann needs to do her homework. Gannon was inside the White House before Talon News even existed. She's trying to rewrite history, knowing her clientele doesn't have a handle on who Gannon is or what he's been doing. Afterall, these are the folks who score lowest. On everything. SATs. IQ tests. Current events. Must be easy to be a columnist for those folks. They never know when you're making stuff up. Like Canada sent troops to Viet Nam. ("I'll get back to you on that.")
It's only a matter of time before Gannon's benefactor becomes known. Gannon is an opportunistic guy with a taste for the limelight. He wants more than his fifteen minutes. He wants the book contracts and an "Ollie North" type radio show. Maybe the GOP shouldn't have hired a prostitute as a "journalist". Now he's acting like the guy featured on the websites. Big surprise.

"Democrats in Congress actually demanded that an independent prosecutor investigate how Gannon got into White House press conferences while writing under an invented name. How did Gary Hartpence, Billy Blythe and John Kohn (Gary Hart, Bill Clinton (news - web sites) and John Kerry (news - web sites)) run for president under invented names? Admittedly, these men were not reporters for the prestigious "Talon News" service; they were merely Democrats running for president.

<snip>

Google is our friend...

Gary Hart shortened his name from Gary Hartpence when he started college. Obviously an "invented" name.
Bill Clinton changed his name from William Jefferson Blythe to William Jefferson Clinton when his mother re-married to a man named... Clinton. Obviously an "invented" name.
John Kerry's ANCESTOR changed the family name from Kohn in 1903!!! OK, that name was made up.

All had their names LEAGALLY CHANGED.
http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/820172/posts
I googled legal change for Gary Hart, and the freepers told me it was a legal change! LOL

Jeff/James/Bulldog/Gannon/Guckert has not shown us a certificate showing a legal name change. Shit, it took longer to write this post than to disprove a whole paragraph of the crap this twit spews.

26. "caught red-handed asking friendly questions"
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 12:57 AM by Straight Shooter
Oh, she is pushing the envelope with that one. How about rabid, partisan, frothing-at-the-mouth-with-hatred-of-Democrats questions.

And he was not caught red-handed. David Brock began to investigate him after the mind-boggling "Democrats divorced from reality" question.

Coulter, you have to understand, if you can, Gannon was hoist on his own petard. Maybe someday, if there are any real journalists left, we'll find out who gave him that asinine question in the first place so he could parrot it to the squatter in the Oval Office.

edit: Ah, I just remembered a quote. "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Rove is desperate if he's allowing Coulter to spew on the Gannon affair.

34. Is Gannon going to be a milestone for gay rights?
Since knee jerk Repubs have to defend him before admitting wrong or conspiracy or hypocrisy, will they stand by him, and thus have to stand by future gays?

Is this a wholly surreal backdoor to gay acceptance, the sleaziest of them all coddling the white house and embarassing them into tolerance as a strategy?

Fuck, at least she acknowledged him, you know she can't leave it be. It is now open season.

37. Unclean Rot
These hacks certainly do come out to defend their own, don't they?

Coulter's partisan loyalty requires that she take regular steps into the realm of the illogical, so it's not surprising that she stripped this story of all intelligible facts in order to fortify her career's prevailing goal of discrediting all liberals as illogical and unintelligible partisans.

Her name is also an anagram of unclean rot, and I think it truly befits her.

in all 50 states. And I suspect they would, if the price was right. Let's see here... what's "$1200 per weekend" times "till death do us part?"

Thus is marriage defended. Is this a great country or what?
