G/G isn't blackmailing the hell out of the administration, and beating them at their own game. Perhaps the mention of this "journal" is a veiled threat to anyone who is thinking about suiciding him. If so, more power to him.
However, it's equally plausible that he's doing everything he can think of to stay alive. It makes a lot of sense that he's seeking so much publicity. After all, a guy who shows no shame at being outed as a prostitute, who loves the attention he's getting because of it, who's bragging that he's still going to the WH press dinner for chrissakes, who announces plans to continue a "journalistic" career, to go on public speaking tours and to publish a book about his experiences, doesn't exactly sound like someone who's contemplating suicide. It sounds like a guy who's determined to ride this thing as far as it will take him.
I hate to sound like I admire him at all - he's morally reprehensible - but I think in a way that G/G's breaking new ground in how to deal with a political scandal. He's brazening this thing out on an unprecedented level, and I have to shake my head and laugh because I actually think that this strategy is working for him. I'm starting to believe that this guy could out-rove Rove! The neocons are probably secretly admiring G/G even as they try to find a way to silence him - it takes a pretty heavy set of stones to do what he's doing publicity-wise. He's made it so that they can't kill him now without looking highly suspicious...and they know it.
Hell, it wouldn't surprise me at this point if G/G winds up getting his own conservative talk show. His "yeah, so what?" strategy has all the earmarks of being straight out of the Paris Hilton career/publicity manual...look how she springboarded to fame with naught but an amateur porn video. And now she's a household name w/her own tv show. Stranger things have happened.
