Interesting note on the Pizza assault guy
I did a search for the terms "DaVinci Pizza Mark Jones" - MJ being the name of the guy who beat the living shi* out of the guy on the cell phone.

Interesting finds - the first two relevent hits took straight to FR. I glanced at the first 50 comments on that one.

The next hit was (not so) strangely similar in reactions. The National Socialist party website. Now, mind you, the Repukes keep calling the left a bunch of socialists, but I don't know of any liberals who would be proudly waving a swastika. These types always seem to be echoing (albeit a bit more loudly) the general group-think of the Republicans, when their guard is down and they don't know the cameras are rolling.

Of course, it didn't take long for the Repukes to lay the blame solely on the liberals. I think it was post 15 or 20.

Seems to me this guy was acting more like George W. Bush (well, GWB's bodyguards, that is).

Race out of the equation: Big guy, much bigger than his victim. Comes in, maybe with false information about what the little guy said about his girlfriend (okay, WMDs in Iraq - for comparison). Little guy tries to mind his own business. Big guy kicks the living shit out of little guy. People around the action (a.k.a. - all the other countries in Europe & MidEast) decide that the best they will muster is "dirty looks", when they have the courage to see what's going on. Fear of Big Guy turning on them and giving them the same treatment.

Just think how bad Big Guy would have attacked little guy if little guy decided to defend himself?

Sound familiar? Oh, wait. The correlation stops there. Big Guy was thrown into prison for his actions.

1. A big reason many people want to carry guns
and many nations want nukes.

And the problem is the same in both cases - often those who wind up dead were not part of the problem in the first place.

2. I've seen enough of the CCW types on those boards to know
that they would claim to be the one with the balls to take down "the crazy nigger".

Except, I would think in this case, the big guy would not just rely on size (remember, he had recently been released from jail), and would more likely shot the "offending" non-offender. I always hear the CCWers saying shit like "Oh, a guy with a gun is going to storm toward the door and suddenly see the 'Do not possess...' sign and turn away because it's illegal."

I want so badly to point out to some of these types - "Okay, so-and-so's waving a gun around, and nervous. Do you wanna be the first guy who he sees reaching into his pocket? Are you ready to die because you hadn't been the first to draw?"

I don't want to be in the crossfire of three or more guys who don't realize that the idiot who started the mess is long gone, and now it's a shootout between the vigilanties.
