Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 03:14 PM by augie38
Here is a piece I read last year about this union busting, minumum wage paying corporation. I hope some of you enjoy shopping there!

4. I don't as a rule, K-Mart has been my discount retailer, although..

...K-Mart has had financial difficulties and their stores are going down in my area. The Super Wal-Marts are springing up everywhere. Last Monday, C-NBC had a special on Wal-Mart, it was intriguing and also filled with propaganda. These people are shrewd business people and employee fantastic 21st century technology to bring product to customers in the cheapest way possible. It's too bad that they must rely on exploitation of the very people who make the system all work. Anyone else see that program?

The line that got me which was asked of all employees I suppose to maintain morale was, "Do you love Wal-Mart?" I got the distinct impression that if the answer was anything other than an enthusiastic, "Yes, absolutely, I love Wal-Mart", that employee's days with the company would be numbered.

They did refer to Wal-Mart employees are "associates" rather than as "employees". The distinction I see in that is that by making a person an associate they are like a partner who would share in the profits of the company. I'm not sure that is the case for the bulk of the people who actually work at Wal-Mart. According to the program there are 654 Wal-Marts arround the world and I heard that they employee more people than any other private company in the world, which I thought was well over 1 million people.

5. Unregulated free market at its finest, how dare you question them!
Go back to Russia! :P (thank's all a bad joke, BTW.)

Walmart is evil. But they ensure that those who still have jobs or retirement funds HAVE to shop there by doing what they do - unionbusting and monopolizing (first neighborhoods then states then everything even larger than that). They ensure they remain self-sufficient by slaughtering everyone else.

Fortunately, they'll ultimately starve to death as well. So those who think that God helps those who help themselves might end up in hell because they stopped reading by the time Jesus started speaking what's tantamount to communism because communism is about communes, or everybody within being an active society to ensure mutual survival...

Remember this: Corporate america is not evolved. It is as callously animalistic as any given predator such as a hawk or shark. That is what Reagan and Thatcher laid the groundwork for. And they will rot for it, anti-Christian as they truly, truly are. And that ain't no joke.

7. thank you thank you
Thanks for the welcome people. Here's some more dirt on Wal-Mart from a personal perspective. When my younger brother was in High School, him and 2 of his friends got jobs there (cart-boys). Of course Wal-Mart started them out at minimum, but hey, that's OK when you're 16. Anyway, they promised them all a 50-cent raise after sixty days, and then another quarter after 90. Those time periods passed, and they did not receive any type of raise. They then told Wal-Mart to basically take their job and shove it.

I've read these boards for a few months before registering, and since I'm a n00b, I need help with some of the lingo here I don't understand.

What is a freeper?

What is meant my Kool-Aid & tin-foil hats?

What is shrub?

11. You and me have something in common!!!!!
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 03:01 PM by Solon
I'll answer the questions first:

A freeper is a poster at our archnemesis www.freerepublic.com only go there if you have a strong stomach.

Second, drinking the Kool-Aid is an expression about buying BS from Media and Government, roughly, though Kool-Aid was used by the Jones cult to commit suicide, I think.

Tin Foil Hats are supposed to keep out the thought reading rays from the Government, hence conspiracy stuff, mostly tounge in cheek.

Shub is Bush, Bush is shrub, another insult to the man with shit for brains and has a finger on the button, depressing isn't it.

As far as the in common thing, I worked 2 years at Wallyworld, for close to minimum wage, and yes, their raises don't amount to shit. They also price fixing(I did it), union bust(that training video is a riot!), and discriminate against women(seen that too many times to count.), etc. etc.

12. hell, i don't even enjoy working there
A guy in one of the stores in the next town over just got a $7.5 million jury verdict, so I'm a little happier knowing that if something happens to me I might have a shot at winning a suit against them.

13. Wal-Fart Is Anti-America
They are truly an enemy to the people of the working class.
The Europeans know that to be a fact, that is why Wal-Fart's efforts to set up business in Europe have been rejected.
