The RW has to kind of disavow him, although embracing him from a distance ("politically assassinated by the left wing bloggers! WAAH!").

They have to complain about liberals "bashing him for being gay" while kind of denying he's gay at the same time...

The Repub machine can't provide him with any financial support that can be traced anymore. Past support might still yet be traceable.

He can't realistically ply his trade anymore since he's still kind of trying to deny that he was a hooker.

HIS BEST OPPORTUNITY TO CASH IN AND GET MAXIMIMUM CASH AND NOTORIETY OUT OF HIS SITUATION WOULD BE TO WRITE A SALACIOUS TELL ALL BOOK. About his career as a RW Rent Boy, and how to succeed in fake WH journalism without even trying. Would sell like hotcakes for a little while.

But he's using the smokescreen of "contemplating legal action" against the bloggers (never happen baby) to shut off any discussion of his escort activity, and probably avoid having to lie on national TV interviews denying the charge.

A TRUE kiss and tell book from him could potentially be very damaging to shrubco, ranging from severe embarrassment up to impeachable offenses. But his current, coy (yet bitchy) stance of not quite denying the charges but not acknowledging them either and saying "I can't talk about it" neutralizes any "sex appeal" of any book he might write as long as he holds that stance.

If he admitted being gay and a hooker, the Hannity/Coulter types as well as the WH types would have to disavow him. Right now they're trying to play all sides of this, when they actually have to talk about it.

Furthermore, if he told the true story of how Talon News came to be, how he became involved with them, and how someone with no journalism training came to get repeated daily WH press passes, he would definitely be "off the reservation" with the Repub machine and be shunned if not worse.

But there's no way the Repub machine can provide him any support now anyway, even if they wanted to (and I seriously doubt they would now, his usefulness to them is finished, they've left their C-note on the dresser and want him to get the hell out). He's already on the outs with them whether he realizes it or not.

So his best bet, if he were in any way smart (and he doesn't strike me as very smart), would be to write the TRUE kiss and tell book after a little tease period. Not too long on the tease or he might have some unfortunate autoerotic asphyxiation suicide accident before his book can come out.

The TRUE kiss and tell book would make him the most money, and, once published, probably best prevent him from falling victim of unfortunate small plane or suicide incidents.
