The Houston Chronicle refers to Jeff Gannon a/k/a James Guckert as "an alleged journalist who used a pseudonym to gain access to White House briefings and news conferences." The Minneapolis Star-Tribune calls him a "phony journalist... reporting for a phony Web site, has no real journalism training and is a $200-an-hour gay prostitute. He ran numerous Web sites like militaryescortsm4m. com. The photos of Gannon that were displayed on those Web sites left nothing to the imagination about his physical attributes." FOXNews.com describes him as "a White House reporter who recently resigned following questions about his identity and background."
Although FOX News reports that Gannon "gained access to White House press briefings over two years despite having no journalism background and using a false name," it also says that he "was the Washington bureau chief for Talon News (and) recently resigned amid questions about his identity and background. He said on his Web site that he was leaving 'because of the attention being paid to me.' Talon News is a conservative online news outlet associated with the website." What "Real Journalism" FOX News doesn't mention is that Talon was created just a few days before Gannon/Guckert first applied for his White House press pass and is now on hiatus.
I can almost see the honchos at FOX News agonizing over how to report this story (which they have largely ignored) with an angle that doesn't tarnish their precious Bush administration too badly. Not surprisingly, they resorted to their fall-back excuse: Gannon is the victim of liberals.

Comment: Apparently, the folks at FOX News just can't find a conservative they don't like. According to Media Matters, Sean Hannity has called Gannon "A terrific Washington bureau chief and White House correspondent for Talon News." Can a job offer be far behind?
