these are all worth reading, they're pretty settling if you were at all unnerved by hunters' death. i think this can close the book on conspiracy (probably not for all of you).... :hippie:

Warren Zevon. He chose his fate upon discovery of his fatal lung cancer... and I respect his choice in what path he made to his next life.

HST made a good choice that didn't shock anyone... he died as he lived, by his own hand.

5. oh yeah, hahaha. I heard this the other night on the radio

a guy who was a roomservice waiter at the Orrington Hotel in Evanston, IL a few years back took care of HST

He brought him breakfast, which consisted of, among other things, pitchers of bloody marys

the room was in quite the state of dishabille, with bottles of Wild Turkey all over. he told Thompson he enjoyed his writing. They talked for awhile, and he ended up getting an autograph, which said,

"Moderation in all things....Hunter S. Thompson"

to subject his son, his son's wife, and his grandson to the sight of his blown off face was monsterous. I have no problem with ending one's life, though. People should be free to leave this hell-hole whenever they like. The world is being run by people so evil that to want to leave is only normal.

in the article i posted with general information it was stated (by his wife anita) that he shot himself in such a way (in the mouth) with such a gun (45 callibur (sp?) handgun) that there wasn't any mess. (obviously there must have been some) but it was executed so it woulnd't be troubling for the family...so i don't think he left a gruesome sight at all.

there was NO way there isn't a "mess" when you shoot yourself through the mouth with a gun. At the very least there would be copious amounts of blood, brain matter etc. pouring out of the mouth. Since his wifey-poo wasn't the one who found him, her credibility on this is zero ZERO.

A .45 (I'm assuming either .45 Colt revolver or .45 ACP automatic) is a fairly low-velocity cartridge...about 800 feet per second. A soft-lead hollowpoint bullet fired through the palate would expand and not penetrate the skull, and there'd probably be rather little blood from the wound, considering that the heart would stop instantly, and, in a sitting position, gravity would tend to draw the blood in the body downward.


As someone who knows firearms, I'd say he was actually considerate in his choice of weapon. If he'd done it with one of his favourite guns, like a .44 Magnum or a .454 Casull, it WOULD have left quite a mess.

I think I can accept that Hunter lived a relatively long and full life, and ended it in the face of continual suffering and hopelessly declining health.

What I cannot accept is my cousin shooting himself in the mouth on his sixteenth birthday. It was a tragic, senseless waste of life and talent, and the world and most of all my family are worse for that loss.

i guess, in a way (maybe even most ways) suicide isn't the answer? i really don't know any answers......maybe it's easeir to accept in hunters case because he was older, he had had a full life, he wasn't really depressed (though suffering from physical issues)...i dont know...its just important to keep in mind that there can't be a set answer and response to everything, like "people that commit suicide are taking the easy way out" does that make sense? im kind of blabbering here....
