Is Gannon Being Dangled As BAIT???? Is He Being Set Up as a Patsy???
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 11:48 AM by Beetwasher
I dunno. Something really stinks about this whole "In your face" turn of Gannon's. I suspect it's part of some sort of "offensive defense" tactic and maybe part of a set up. I guess it's also possible that he's acting on his own and now a free agent of sorts who's out of control, but I doubt it.

By blowing him up and dangling him publically they may be trying to draw some people into "something" and setting up some sort of total muddying tactic.

Hmmm, if I were Rove and I were in this situation where this guy was exposed and it had potential to be really damaging, what would I do? I'd muddy the waters any way possible. Maybe tell him (Gannon) to really get in the face of my opponents (via a taunting website), forge some diaries and client lists (maybe several versions), then have him whacked and have the diaries and client lists "found" with all sorts of people's names in them who were my enemies and now implicated in Gannon's murder. "I mean, who has the most motive to kill him", they would say, "Why, those lunatic liberals who hated his guts, that's who! And all his gay Democratic clients who feared being exposed!".

Keep them nervous on purpose? Terra'lerts and "nukuler" talk not making Congress, press, etc. so complaint? Try blackmail. The second-oldest profession.

Hell they cenveniently Anthrax's Dan Ratherm et.al., after 911...these evil dudes will do ANYTHING to silence their critics.

Gannon could indirectly assure the passing of SS reform...

9. He scares the bejabbers out of all CONS
They've tried to dismiss it, then tried to explain (read: lie) about it, and now they're going to try and focus on JUST Gannon as an extreme partisan who has the freedom to express a view point. Never mind that "view" is aligned lock step with the 'majority' party...that won't be part of the framing.

No. Don't allow them to be successful with this framing. IT IS ABOUT THE PROPAGANDA.

10. I would say it's Rove but it could be Bush himself.
If he paid Gannon for his escort service before he was governor of Texas (which would be in the early 90s), Gannon knew who he was and assured him he wouldn't reveal anything to anyone. Yet Gannon kept some proof that he had sex with Bush and is milking it for as much as he can.

He's got SOMETHING. He'd be REALLY stupid (as opposed to merely stupid) not to. However, whatever he's got can be muddied by forged/altered copies of whatever he's got. Whatever he's got is probably NO protection for him, thought he's probably too stupid to realize it.

Forget the sexcapages (except that he seems to have questionable moral values which are quickly becoming known as part of the 'Conservative Messengers Club' affinities).

So...seize this opportunity and tether it with all your power to the rest of the propaganda network (Limbaugh, Hannity, Faux Views, etc)! THAT IS THE ISSUE--GOVERNMENT SPONSORED PROPAGANDA!

11. But keep your eye on the central issue: PROPAGANDA.
Gannon is key, for sure, but let's not forget that the real issue is that someone decided to screw with the media. It isn't the fake journalist that disturbs me as much as the fake questions, fake news, and fake news "experts" being paid by our own government.

7. Rove may choose the easily discredited to cover his tracks,
At some point last week I read a piece that this is typically the way Rove works. I wish I had a link, I don't, I know, that's lame...

The point of the posting was that he builds in deniability to his operations. We heard Gannon on one of his interviews say if you think were going to plant someone wouldn't they pick someone better than me? Well, NO.

They'd pick someone JUST LIKE Guckert! Someone who is easily discarded, someone who's story can be driven toward sex and porn sites....i.e. away from the real issue (Bush administration infiltration and influence/control of the White House press briefings.

IF you could prove Guckert was paid with Rove money, that would be great, and somebody needs to work that angle.

BUT at this point the main hunt should be on uncovering the who what where when why and how Guckert gained access to White House Press Breifing Room.

The story we have been given is too facile. It needs to be rejected. Someone must put pressure on the second level of Rove's defense.

8. Typical Conservative tactic
bush deserts his military unit to avoid a drug test, gop gets huffy, the lemmings think he is a hero.

limbaugh divorces at least three times, gets hooked on drugs, gets huffy, lemmings pray for his recovery and welcome his back.

O'lielly gets caught with his pants down, gets huffy, countersues, the lemmings hang on every word.

gannon story stinks up the internet, he gets huffy, conservatives in an uproar over "privacy", soon lemmings will be praying for his soul.

NO morals, NO character, NO integrity - typical neoconservatism.

Lets face it: anyone who posts nude pictures of himself on the internet
never met a kind of attention he didn't like. I think Gannon is completely
out of anyone's control.

And as someone else pointed out: how stupid is this guy that he used the
same fake name as a phoney reporter that he used to advertise himself
as a prostitute? A person with half a brain would have used his real name
as "journalist" and fake name as prostitute, there by giving himself some space
for deniability.

We're talking dumb here.

Unless Gannon Escorts Inc. has some big-name Dems as clients,

I don't see the trap.

21. I think his (publicity) whoredom initially took them by surprise.
He's shown himself to be a pretty dim bulb; maybe he thought he could blackmail someone into keeping his mouth shut (in more ways than one.)

But maybe he has figured out by now that to disappear from of the public eye might not be the wisest move. Rove has a history of royally screwing *sorry* his enemies. If Gannon is considered an enemy now, he'll be needing to watch his back.

24. He took too big a bite -
1. He gets some dirt.

2. He tells them he has dirt and They let him sit at their table (keep your friends close, your enemies closer).

2a. They get him into the WH press briefings, let him pretend he's starting to be a real reporter and not just a prosti, so he feels comfortable.

3. He actually does some useful work for them: Specifically the Daschel business.

4. For some reason he queers (haha) the deal, maybe he just pushes his place at the table too hard, wants too much, maybe they feel confident they can cut him loose, maybe just they let him work against his own best interests IE: He asks the President a 'question' on TV. (draws attention to himself (which is stupid for all the obvious reasons.)

5. Maybe they try and contain it for a day or two, then They cut him loose.

6. He realizes they've cut him loose, and suddenly all the dirt he has is starting to look less like a benefit and more like a liability because he knows as soon as people stop watching him, he's a gonner.

7. So he re-activates his blog. And starts singing as loud as he can, hoping to get himself back to the table.

8. Now We get to watch and see if he can hold on, or if he's going down.

Rove proved that in the Rather story. We have to be on our toes. If Gannon suddenly offers up diaries and "evidence" that are exposed as fake, it would be classic Rove.

29. I Don't Think He Got His Position Because Of His Posession of "Dirt"
I think he got it because he was perfect for it BECAUSE he was already a prostitute. I don't see HIM saying "Hey, I want to be a reporter, if you don't let me, I release this dirt!" I see it more as someone realizing he'd be good for that role because of his involvement in OTHER dirty schemes already and because they realized he's a good "roleplayer", as it were.

31. No,
see Beet-washer's post.

I think, though, that (if any of my wild conjecture is followed through) if he tried to push dirt, he didn't not realize the depth of the game he was getting involved with (or we'd have heard of him before...(is that right?)).

So it all seems like a big promotion, one he does not realize he does not deserve...

33. I Think The Ads May Or May Not Have Been Part Of OTHER Dirty Schemes
Such as blackmail and whatnot OR it could have just been something he was doing on the side (though I doubt it, blackmail of this sort is a VERY popular tactic).

I think he was involved in dirty tricks (Gay blackmail etc.), and this posing as a WH reporter was just ANOTHER dirty trick that may have "grown" out of that role. In the process, if he had any brains, he would/should have collected and SAVED someone of that dirt for his own protection/use and may think he's got some to protect himself from being whacked by his "sponsors".

I contend that whatever dirt he has WON'T protect him, because in this day and age practically ANYTHING can be forged, even video. So, while he may think he has protection (in the form of videos, client lists, diaries etc.), the waters can be muddied enough so that Rove (for example) COULD whack him and make it look like his other enemies (like Liberal bloggers or gay Dems) may have done it. If several diaries or client lists came out, how would anyone know which were real and which weren't? Would it even be possible to tell?

Honestly, would this surprise you? That's why I don't think the so called diary is worth much investigation--look into things where there's concrete evidence not subject to manufacture by the interested parties.
