Poll question: When the economy disintegrates, what shall you do?
Discuss.

I'm opting for choices 1 or 2.

1. Other: I work in Government Relations.
There will always be some form of government to relate to, and thus, there will always be a job for me, thankfully. I chalk that one up to a non-trendy career choice.

2. Careful, there, if those people voting for riots actually riot,
I wouldn't want to be the front(wo)man for the government.

3. Oh no no no
I'm not a front man for the government. I'm a front man for colleges and universities who want money from the government.

No rioting here thankyouverymuch!

5. Don't be so sure. Forecasting is never a good thing...
even if it's fun to think about the potential future.

4. I'll take my decades of expertise and college degrees to another country
where I will be treated with respect, and where my tax dollars will be spent on the infrastructure instead of war. In the next few years, many of the best and brightest of America is going to immigrate.

7. And how are you going to get there?
Worthless dollar.

Homeland security would surely quash any attempts by any American to leave the homeland.

The only place is Canada. And will they welcome anyone seeking asylum?

11. I have family and friends in Spain, Germany, Brasil and Costa Rica,
and many more friends in Holland, France, Norway and Austria.

Homeland Security will not not be able to stop everyone from leaving. If I have to, I'll take a sailboat from the Gulf of Mexico to Puerto Limon, Costa Rica and go wherever I want from there. If I am stopped by Coast Guard, I will dump my ID overboard and only speak Portuguese to them, indicating that I am NOT an American citizen... anyway, hopefully I'll have Brazilian citizenship by the end of this year. After my brother marries his Spanish girlfriend, I will apply for a permanent VISA to live and work there. :)

By the way, my father's girlfriend is Canadian. She says Canadians are preparing for massive immigration from the USA. In Vancouver there are already of 'safe houses' being set up. What they tell the Bush administration publicly is the opposite of what they are doing right now. Canada wants the best and brightest from the USA, and they WILL get first pick. :D

Am I wrong or is their immigration laws with respect to us based upon value to their society.... there is some points system awarded to applicants....

Canada Skilled Worker Immigration - Points based immigration

or borrow in any way...I keep my cash to myself and only put enough in the bank to cover written checks....Makes currant life a bit harder, but I'll have my home and land when it blows...

On edit: with all the viral scientists "dieing" I think that will be about the time some massive "bird flu" or other virus will hit...

12. Get yer White Widow, get yer Blueberry, get yer stone right here!
Although if the choice is between food and pot, I'll have to go with the food.

I've heard that when the economy is down, things like drugs and alcohol still have strong "sales". Go figure...

15. When the economy disintegrates?!
Do you mean when people realize that the economy has disintegrated or when the rich people will finally start feeling it?

16. You should add
Suffer, but never miss the chance to say "I told you so," see what you have done, I hope you enjoy it, to all of the idiots who will also be suffering because they voted for Bush.
