3. Truthfully, that would suck, too
Even now, with the Old American Republic dying or dead and Totalitarian One-Party Rule staring us in the face and dozens of other "shoes" ready to drop including LIHOP (or MIHOP #2), which I think the Busheviks have slated for May (perhaps sooner, to get the draft rolling in time for Iran or Syria), I still believe in the tenets of the Old American Republic.

So I wouldn't want One-Party Democratic Rule any more than I want One-Party Imperial Rule. One-Party Rule leads to excess and ultimately, Totalitarianism.

That is the truth. In the Old American Republic, Left and Right needs each other, cannot work properly without the other...as the Founding Fathers intended it.

To think the Left cannot be wrong or is without excess is a mistake.

I am dreadfully saddened by the current situation which makes these beliefs nothing more than a vague memory of Free America. I remember and enjoyed so much basing my votes on the individual candidates, reseraching them and deciding which best fit me.

Sometimes they were Democratic, sometimes Republican. Naturally as time went on and the Republicans became the Imperials, it was impossible to cast a single vote for ANY of them, because to do so would be to add power to the Beast that Destroyed America.

I cast my last Republican vote in 1996 and have never looked back. It was and is the right thing to do.

But I miss Free America. I miss studying elections and voting on the individual.

Something else the Imperials have stolen, in addition to trillions of dollars and our freedom.

Sorry to be a Party Pooper, but that's how I see it.

4. Good point, well worded.
One-party rule - any party - puts us back in the USSR.

7. Because before I was a Radicalized Moderate I was a True Moderate
"Deacdes of Republican Imperialism" is a loaded term and I'm sure we would have a good argument on the subject.

Didn't the Democrats have something to do with Vietnam? Hmmmmm.

Anyway I explained why I sometimes voted for Repugs up until their total abandonment of Traditional American Ideals for the Bush-Mimbaugh Empire of Orwellian Lies.

Because I believed in Divided Government as a Check and Balance. Because I believed that no one side should gain toatl control.
Because, until the Republicans embraced Totalitarianism and Goebbelsian propaganda, they checked the excesses of the Left.

To me, the height of the Old Republic (in a general Rise and Fall Arc, not specific economic issues per se) was 1981-1985.

No, I wasn't a huge fan of Raygun (that was the reign of Poppy Augustus, anyway, Raygun was their Alzheimer's Puppet) but my belief was that:

The 'recalibration' rightward during that era counterbalanced some of the excesses of the Left during the 60s and 70s. That recalibration at that time, which left (until the Later raygun Years, IMHO) essential Old American character traits of striving for justice (imperfectly, of course) and making life better for those who would scome after, among other things, made it the best from the Moderate point of view. We went too far in one direction, got dragged back in the other just a bit, but leaving the essential Old America generally intact.

I know you don't agree with that and I'm not asking you to, just explaining how I feel.

And of course, time has revealed in retrospect that the Seeds of Old America's doom were sowed during the 12 years reign (1981-1992) of Emperor Poppy Augustus, and that cannot be forgiven.

But if someone asks me when the height of the Old American Republic was, I answer the Early 80s, when America enjoyed the benefits of all of the great things Liberals had given us (Civil Rights, Envionmental protections, College Aid, etc.) and the excesses of the Left (over emphasis on criminal rights, political correctness, gun control, etc) ahd been pared back.

That's my reasoning. Why did I vote for Repugs? Because I believed in the individual, that's why, and felt they were best for my interests.

And because I believed that one side needed to balance out the other so that I split my vote with that larger picture in mind.

That's how I felt. Feel free to flame me, but i would prefer if we just agreed to disagree.

Because now...today...you couldn't make me cast my worthless vote for a Repug because that would Feed the Beast that Destroyed America.
