Only one month into his 2nd term and he's embroiled by scandals.
Help me name them:

Election fraud
Proven Liars Rice and Gonsalez confirmed
Trying to imprison reporters for not divulging sources
Novak talking
PropaGannon, and all the things come of it

We can all agree that the press has not covered any of these adequately or accurately. List your favorites!

1. I still like Bulge-gate, the Plame outing, and the TANG coverup
Even his gaffes are covered up. Could you imagine if a Democrat had said Ob-gyns need to "practice their love with women all over the country" for example??

I mean, they make fun of "the meaning of is" and "lockbox" and "the scream," but the Chimp makes gaffes constantly and they just let 'em go.

Same with the scandals. Gannongate and Plame ought to be huge; the WMD lies ought to be huge; the bulge was never explained; Edmonds' reports about translations were never investigated; what happened in Ohio was never resolved....

On and on and on...

3. Rice-Gonzalez isn't a "scandal."
It was expected. Presidents always get the cabinet they want--especially if they control both houses. In fact, since the vast majority of America saw nothing wrong with Rice or Gonzalez, it wasn't even close to a scandal. It was just another politcal loss for the Dems.

4. No scandal in Rice and Gonzales
Biden and other fine Democrats eagerly got down on all fours and gave the Boy King exactly what he wanted.

Their confirmations were a cakewalk.

The Democrats SHOULD be ashamed for confirming them, but they're NOT.

Condi's strutting around Europe in her dominatrix outfit.

Gonzales is smirking from ear to ear and high-fiving his staff.

When it comes to THESE two, BUSH WON.

:grr:

7. Yes, actually.
We had a little referendum back in November. The United States Government said "all right, this guy's been in power for four years. Do you al think he's done a good job or a bad job?" We said "he's had a lot of corruption, scandal and general evil." 59 million Americans said, "No, we think he did a terrible job." 62 million Americans said "We think he did well enough that he should stay in power." Quite simply, America, despite knowing of the scandals, said he should still be in power. So yes, all previous scandals are more or less dismissed.

8. You're right. They'll all come back.
I'm just thinking of what's in the news right now, and the confirmations showed me that there were Dems in federal office who want to address ethical questions. What I find scandalous about it, is how the press covered it. Boxer, Kerry, et al. were the bad guys there. My opinion, of course.

I am almost sure that the Religious Right (the hardcore ones) are going to become irrelevant over the next few months. That will put a huge dent in how loud the other side likes to think it is.

9. Irrelevant? Why?
The RR has a stronger following than other, and more political muscle. Why such an imminent collapse?

10. Could be my optimism, but...
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 11:42 PM by theorist
their silence on this issue right after the Spongebob debacle will show to the many moderates on both sides who thought they were pandering to these people because they had to; and politicians have a duty to call a hypocrite, a hypocrite.

It will take a lot of letters to the editor and calls our officials, but we have to show them who the real majority is - us.

edit: The reference to "this issue" is the Gannon thing.

11. A big one coming up soon (and already scandalous) :
Bush's outrageous attempt to put arch-homophobe Bill Pryor on the Court. It's already been proven that he's not qualified to be unbiased, but George is a persistent little devil. Go Dems- filibuster your asses off! Join us Olympia! C'mon you breakaway & decent Pubs! Show your true colors. Sink this hatemonger.
